1 What do you think it is like to have this job
2 What are the challenges of this job
3 What do you think can make this job enjoyable
The job can make windows and buildings shine. I think it brings a sense of achievement.
The challenges include working in all kinds of weather, such as rain, wind, or extreme heat. It can also be dangerous.
This job can be enjoyable if the window cleaner meets kind people who appreciate their work.
1 Hello, everyone. It's so nice to see you on my last day at work. The past 30 years were filled with both challenges and joys. All my days up high in the air will be kept in my memory.
2 I still remember my first summer as a “spiderman". It was a day much hotter than today! I was wet all over. Drops of sweat fell in my eyes. When I opened them, I saw a juicy watermelon. It was carefully cut into small pieces. A kind woman was smiling brightly at me from inside the building. That was the sweetest watermelon of my life.
3 I'm reminded of some other friends I met through the glass. There was this sweet newborn baby. I watched her grow bit by bit. She
was always excited when I appeared outside her window. She laughed
as her cat tried to “catch” my brush. Later, she drew a picture of me and showed it to me! Happiness passed through the glass and into my heart. One day, her mother held up a note for me: the family was moving. I felt sad, but also happy that we were once friends.
4 Window cleaning is not always considered a good job, but I'll never
regret it. I have met a lot of kind people and been part of many
warm stories. I found a sense of achievement in my job.
5 Today I am saying goodbye to my job as a “spiderman". And you are going to start your days up in the air. The city shines brighter because of us, and the job will make us shine, too. Best wishes to you all!

More comprehensive questions.
1. Who is the speech for
2. Why does Robert call himself a "spiderman"
The speech is for the new window cleaners who are about to start the same job.
He calls himself a "spiderman" because he is a window cleaner. He works high up in the air on tall buildings, just like the superhero Spiderman who moves freely on buildings. This nickname vividly describes his high-rise working characteristic.
3. Robert says, “Window cleaning is not always considered a good job.” Why might some people think this way
People might think it's not a good job because it can be physically tough, risky from working up high, and sometimes seen as simple or unimportant — not a job that earns a lot of respect from others.
4. What do you think of the job Share your opinions.
Think and share
1 What are the joys and challenges of being a "spiderman"
Joys :
Meeting kind people: Like the woman who gave him watermelon.
Making connections: Watching a baby grow up and become friends through the window.
Feeling helpful and proud: Knowing his work makes the city "shine brighter."
Having warm memories: His job gave him many happy stories to remember.
Challenges :
Hard physical work: Working outside in very hot weather (like his first summer).
Being high up: The job is done "up high in the air," which can be scary or tiring.
People might not respect the job: He admits it's "not always considered a good job" by some.
2 Why does Robert say "That was the sweetest watermelon of my life."
Learning to think for question 2
To understand an expression, read the sentences before and after it. The context can help you understand its meaning better.
Because it was given by a kind woman on an extremely hot workday. He was wet all over with sweat then, and the woman's kindness made the watermelon taste especially sweet to him.
3 What does the last paragraph of the passage mean
The last paragraph means the speaker is saying goodbye to his window cleaning job as a "spiderman" and passing the baton (接力棒) to the listeners. He also emphasizes that window cleaners make the city brighter, and the job itself can bring value and glory to those who do it. Finally, he sends his best wishes to the listeners.
Language Points
1. All my days up high in the air will be kept in my memory.
keep sth in my memory表示“我记得某事”。例如:
I will keep his words in my memory.
The image has been kept alive in my memory.
2. I still remember my first summer as a "spiderman".
3. I was wet all over.
The man looked all over for his keys.
He felt a sense of relief all over.
4. I watched her grow bit by bit.
He learnt the language bit by bit.
5.Window cleaning is not always considered a good job, but I'll never
regret it.
In some cultures, the elderly are considered a source of wisdom.
6. The city shines brighter because of us, and the job will make us shine, too.
