Han Jing, Amy’s classmate, is quite interested in how things are going in American senior high schools. Here is what Amy said:
In America, after junior high school comes senior high school, which includes grades 9 through 12. After registration, students are required to take certain subjects like English, social studies, maths, science, and physical education.
In addition, they choose among elective subjects (选修课) to complete their high school education. Elective subjects include technology, music, art, foreign languages and so on. The time for classes is 8:30-12:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. American students don’t go home for lunch. After school, they join some school clubs or play sports.
