What can we discuss using the present perfect tense
How is the past participle of a verb formed
1. The present perfect can talk about events that have (or haven’t) happened before now. The exact time of the event is unspecified. The adverbs ever, never, just, before, yet(negative, yes-no question), still , and already (formative) are often used with the present perfect.
-- Have you ever been to Shenzhen
--No, I haven't. I’ve never been there. But Andrew has.
--I haven’t visited Shenzhen yet.
2. We use the present perfect tense (often used with since and for ) to talk about an action that started in the past and continues to the present.
Since the late 1970s, Shenzhen has developed at an amazing speed.
Shenzhen has developed at an amazing speed for over 50 years.

3. We use the present perfect tense to talk about an action that happened in the past and has a connection with the present.
Tom is looking for his key. He can't find it.
He has lost his key.
He has lost his key= He lost it recently, and he still
doesn't have it.
I have lost my key.
He told me his name, but I 've forgotten it.
(= I can't remember it now)
The present perfect can also express an event that has occurred repeatedly from a point in the past up to the present time. The event may happen again.

Present Perfect VS Past Simple
Tom is looking for his key. He can't find it.
He has lost his key. (present perfect)
This means that he doesn't have his key now.
Now Tom has found his key. He has it now.
Has he lost his key No, he has found it.
Did he lose his key Yes, he did .
He lost his key (past simple)
but now he has found it. (present perfect)
The present perfect (something has happened) is a present tense. It always tells us about the situation now. 'Tom has lost his key'= he doesn't have his key now .
The past simple (something happened) tells us only about the past. If somebody says 'Tom lost his key', this doesn't tell us whether he has the key now or not. It tells us only that he lost his key at some time in the past.
