Grammar
过去进行时
含义:过去进行时表示过去某一时刻正在进行的动作或过去某一阶段一直在进行的动作。
基本句式:
(1)肯定句:主语+was/were+动词-ing+其他(was/were是助动词,无词义,只构成过去进行时的作用,在人称和数上与主语保持一致)
We were reading at 7 last night. 昨天晚上七点我们在读书。
(2)否定句:主语+was/were+not(wasn’t/weren’t)+动词-ing+其他
We weren’t cleaning the room at 4 yesterday afternoon. 昨天下午四点我们没有在打扫房间。
(3)一般疑问句:Was/Were+主语++动词-ing+其他?
肯定回答:Yes,主语+was/were.
否定回答:No,主语+wasn't/weren't.
-- Were you writing a letter from seven to nine last night 昨晚七点到九点你在写信吗?
-- Yes, I was./No, I wasn’t. 是的,我在写。/不,我没在写。
特殊疑问句: 特殊疑问词(做主语)+was/were+主语++动词-ing+其他
特殊疑问词(不做主语)+was/were+主语+动词-ing+其他?
Who was playing football at this time yesterday 昨天这个时候谁在踢足球?
Why were you still watching TV at 8 last night 昨天晚上八点为什么你还在看电视?
时间状语:
(1)表示过去某一时刻正在进行的动作,常与then、at this/that time、last night、at this/that time yesterday、at+时间点+yesterday、时间状语从句等连用。
Shirley was reading a book when you called her last night. 你昨晚给雪莉打电话时,她正在读书。
表述过去某一阶段一直在进行的动作,常与those days、the whole morning、all day yesterday、from+时间点+to+时间点+last night等时间状语连用。
I was learning how to cook those days. 那些天我在学习如何做饭。
通常不用于进行时的动词:
部分连系动词,如seem、appear等;
表示心理状态、情感的动词,如love、hate、like、know等;
短暂性动词,如decide、stop等;
感官动词:see、hear、feel(静态)、smell、sound、taste等。
连词when、while和as的用法
含义:when、while和as都可表示“当......时候”,表示“当一个动作正在进行过程中发生了另一个动作”,一般情况下叫长的动作用过去进行时,较短的动作用一般过去时。

when、while和as的区别
when引导的从句中,动词可以是延续性的,也可以是非延续性的;另外,when还有“正当......时,突然”的意思,while和as没有此意。
She always listens to music when she does her homework.她做作业时总是听音乐。
I was walking home when it began to rain heavily. 我正走在回家的路上,突然下起了大雨。
while侧重主句和从句动作的对比,可译作“而”,或强调主从句两个动作同时发生。
I like playing basketball while my brother likes playing football. 我喜欢打篮球,而我哥哥喜欢踢足球。
He was listening to music while he was cleaning his room. 他打扫房间的同时,在听音乐。
as常译作“随着......;一边......一边......”,一般用于连接两个短动作。
As he grew older, he became more handsome. 随着他长大,他变得更帅了。
She sang a song as she walked home. 她一边走回家,一边唱歌。
