I.语言点精讲
1. Work in groups. Each student writes one sentence beginning with “If ...” on their own piece of paper.
在句子 Each student writes one sentence beginning with “If ...” on their own piece of paper 中,beginning with 是一个现在分词短语,在句中作后置定语,用来修饰前面的名词 sentence。
现在分词短语 beginning with... 相当于一个定语从句的省略形式,完整表达是:
a sentence which/that begins with “If ...”
这种省略的前提是:分词的逻辑主语就是它所修饰的名词(这里 sentence 就是 begin 这个动作的发出者),且两者是主动关系。
语义表达
begin with 是固定动词短语,意为 “以…… 开头;从…… 开始”,分词形式 beginning with 保留了这个含义,用来限定 sentence 的特征 ——“以 If 开头的句子”。
拓展用法与例句
作后置定语(最常用)
当修饰的名词是动作的发出者时,可用现在分词短语后置。
I like songs beginning with gentle music.
(= I like songs which begin with gentle music.)
我喜欢以舒缓音乐开头的歌曲。
The book lying on the desk is mine.
(= The book which lies on the desk is mine.)

2. Take turns to add sentences until the story ends naturally.
take turns 的用法
核心含义:轮流、依次做某事。
词性搭配:动词短语,常见结构为 take turns (in) doing sth. 或 take turns to do sth.,两种结构可互换,含义基本一致。
语法要点:
主语通常是复数名词或代词(表示多个主体)。
介词 in 可以省略。
例句:
① We take turns to clean the classroom every week.
(我们每周轮流打扫教室。)
② The kids took turns (in) riding the bicycle in the park.
(孩子们在公园里轮流骑自行车。)
在原句 Take turns to add sentences... 中,take turns to do sth. 表示 “轮流添加句子”,是祈使句用法,省略了主语 you。
until 的用法
核心含义:直到…… 为止;在…… 之前。
词性:连词或介词,在原句中是连词,引导时间状语从句。
语法要点:
用于肯定句:主句动词多为延续性动词,表示动作持续到 until 从句的时间结束。
例:She waited until her son came back home.
(她一直等到儿子回家。)
用于否定句:常构成 not...until... 结构,主句动词多为短暂性动词,表示动作到 until 从句的时间才发生。
例:I didn't go to bed until I finished my homework.

原句分析:
Take turns to add sentences until the story ends naturally.

此处 until 引导时间状语从句,主句是祈使句(表动作持续),表示 “添加句子” 这个动作要持续到 “故事自然结束” 为止。

if 引导的是真实条件状语从句,遵循 “主将从现” 的核心语法规则,具体用法拆解如下:
1)从句与主句的时态搭配
if 从句(条件):用一般现在时表将来可能发生的条件
结构:if + 主语 + 一般现在时谓语
例句中:if it doesn't rain tomorrow(doesn't rain 是一般现在时的否定形式)
主句(结果):用一般将来时表满足条件后会发生的结果
结构:主语 + will + 动词原形
例句中:we'll go for a picnic(we'll = we will,go 是动词原形)
2)从句的位置与标点规则
从句在前,主句在后:从句末尾加逗号
原句:If it doesn't rain tomorrow, we'll go for a picnic.
主句在前,从句在后:无需加逗号
改写:We'll go for a picnic if it doesn't rain tomorrow.
3)语义特点(真实条件)
这种 if 从句描述的是客观上可能实现的条件,翻译为 “如果”,区别于描述 “不可能实现的假设” 的虚拟条件句(比如 If I were you, I would...)。
4)句式拓展(同义替换与变形)
主句的 will 可替换为情态动词 can / may / might,表 “能够 / 可能”
例:If it doesn't rain tomorrow, we can go for a picnic.
从句主语为第三人称单数时,谓语动词用三单形式
例:If she has time, she'll join us.

五、任务型阅读。
It is easier to agree than to disagree. The following tips can help people solve disputes (争端).
Don’t make it personal.
If you get upset, it can help to remember that you’re mad at the person’s idea, not the person.
Never criticize (批评) others’ ideas.
You’d better not say “That’s a stupid idea.” Try “I don’t really agree, and here is why.” Never shout loudly and you will have a much better chance of getting your idea across.
Use “I” statements (陈述) to communicate how you feel and what you think.
Using “you” statements can sound argumentative (好争论的). For example, telling your mum “You always remind me about my chores when I have a lot of homework.” has a very different tone (语气) from “I’m under pressure because I have a lot of homework tonight. Can I do those chores tomorrow ”
Listen to the other point of view.
When the other person is talking, try to stop thinking about why you disagree or what you will say next. Instead, focus on what is being said. When it is your turn to talk, repeat any key points the other person made to show you have paid attention to what was said. Then express why you disagree.
Stay calm.
This is the most important thing you can do to make a conversation go on well.
