Vocabulary is one area. In Britain, you take the “lift” to go up a building, but in the US, it’s an “elevator”. The trunk at the back of a car is called a “boot” in the UK, while Americans say “trunk”.
Pronunciation is different too. The word “tomato” is said as /t mɑ t / in British English and /t me to / in American English. Also, in spelling, the British write “programme” and Americans write “program”.
Even with these differences, people from both places can still chat and understand each other. It’s fun to learn these differences!
