Dear Worried Friend,
Thank you for trusting me with your concerns about your friend, Chen Lei. It’s completely understandable that you feel anxious and helpless when you see him spending so much time in the online world.
I know it’s a difficult subject, but I strongly recommend that you have a calm, one-on-one conversation with him. Choose a relaxed moment—perhaps while having lunch together—and gently express your care instead of blame. You could start by saying, “I’ve noticed you’ve been gaming a lot recently, and I‘m a bit worried because I miss hanging out with you.” This approach(方法） is more likely to get through to him because it comes from a place of friendship, not blame. Furthermore, why not help him discover the attraction of the offline world by inviting him to join you in activities For instance, you could ask him to play basketball with you this Saturday. Physical activity is a fantastic way to reduce stress and improve mood, which might address some of the reasons he escapes into games. If he’s willing, perhaps suggest watching a movie together instead—something that gets him out of the house without being too physically tiring.
