Jane Goodall’s Message of Hope Lives On
The world lost a great scientist. Dr. Jane Goodall passed away on October 1, 2025, in California. Her work changed the way people learn about animals.
In 1960, Goodall went to Gombe National Park in Tanzania(坦桑尼亚贡贝国家公园)to watch chimpanzees(黑猩猩). What she found there changed the view of animals. People learn that chimpanzees mainly feed on plants. But she saw them use small sticks(棍) to get a kind of ant. It shows that humans are not the only animals that can use tools.
Goodall also found that chimpanzees have rich lives. They play together, share food, and make peace after they fight. But sometimes they also fight with other groups and even hurt their own group members.
She lived in that forest from 1960 to 2025. Therefore, she could be close to the groups of chimpanzees. Once, a little chimpanzee held her hand. Another time, a mother chimpanzee allowed her baby to touch Jane’s nose. These small things showed that humans and animals can understand each other without words. These small moments showed their wordless connection.
Goodall becomes a bridge between people and nature. Later in her life, she worked hard to save forests. She held many projects like the “Trillion Trees” and “Trees for Jane” in order to protect nature.
During her whole life, Goodall shares a message of hope. She believes that hope gives people the power to care for nature. Though her work ends, her spirit(精神) of loving nature always lives on.
