宾语从句：第一个 think 后接宾语从句 some people think postcards are rather old-fashioned ，第二个 think 后接宾语从句 they're a good way to learn about different places ，均省略了引导词 that 。
不定式作定语： to learn about different places 作后置定语，修饰 a good way 。

2.Reading or listening to music can help us to calm down after a busy day.
动名词作主语：Reading or listening to music
含义：指动名词是由动词原形加 -ing 构成，既有动词的特征，又有名词的特征。当动名词在句子中承担主语这一成分时，就叫做动名词作主语。
①动名词单独作主语，如：Swimming is good for your health.（游泳对你的健康有好处）
②动名词构成的短语作主语，如：Playing basketball after school makes us happy.（放学后打篮球让我们很开心）
③动名词作主语时，谓语动词都要用单数形式。
Playing computer games for a long time makes him feel tired.（长时间的玩电脑游戏让他很累）
Reading English stories is my favorite hobby.（读英语故事是我最喜欢的爱好）
④形式主语 “It”：
当动名词作主语，这个主语较长时，可用 “It is + 形容词/名词 + 动名词短语” 的结构，避免头重脚轻。

it 作形式宾语, 当句子的 “真正宾语”（通常是不定式 to do、动名词 doing 或宾语从句）太长时，为了避免句子头重脚轻，用 it 代替真正宾语，放在谓语动词后，而真正宾语移到句子末尾。find it 形容词 (for sb.) to do sth. 发现做某事（对于某人来说）是......
it是形式宾语，to do 是真正的宾语
类似用法：

I find it easy to learn English with study partners.（我发现和学习伙伴一起学英语很容易）（真正宾语为不定式）

We think it a pity that he didn’t join the English club.（我们认为他没加入英语俱乐部很遗憾。）（真正宾语为一个句子）
常有此用法的动词：
find（发现）、think（认为）、feel（觉得）、consider（认为）、make（使）、believe（相信）、regard（把…… 看作）等。
She thinks it important to practice speaking every day.（她认为每天练习口语很重要。）
Luca makes it his hobby to make mobile phone apps.（卢卡把制作手机应用程序当作自己的爱好。）
4.His latest app allows people around the world to find study partners for learning Italian.他的最新应用程序允许世界各地的人们找到学习意大利语的学习伙伴。
allow v.使……成为可能;允许 常用结构：
1)allow sth.允许某事，例: The rules allow no smoking.
2)allow sb. to do sth.允许某人做某事，
例:My dad allows me to play games after finishing homework.
Teachers don't allow students to use mobile phones in class.
Pets are not allowed in this building.
5.She dreams of travelling to these places in the future!她梦想着将来去这些地方旅行！(P7)
dream of 作动词短语,意为 “梦想、希望”,后接名词、代词或动名词(doing)，不接动词不定式,如 dream of success(梦想成功)、dream of becoming a doctor(梦想成为医生)。
相关短语:have a dream 有一个梦想、realize one's dream 实现梦想。
例句：
Many children dream of flying like birds.
She has dreamed of visiting Paris since she was a little girl.
He dreams of becoming a famous singer.
They dream of a trip to the moon one day.
6.As long as you don't give up, you'll get better at it over time.
只要你不放弃，久而久之你会做得更棒。
as long as引导条件状语从句，遵循“主将从现”原则（从句用一般现在时，主句用一般将来时）；get better at sth（在某方面变得更擅长，比较级用法）。
知识点：短语give up（放弃），over time（随着时间的推移）。

start out的用法：
①起初是；开始时是（表身份、状态的初始阶段）
常见搭配：start out as + 身份

②着手做；开始进行
常见搭配：start out to do sth.
I started out to learn English when I was 6 years old.（我 6 岁时就开始学英语了。)
8.prefer的用法：
动词，更喜欢，宁愿，偏好，过去式：preferred，现在分词：preferring
常见结构：
①prefer A to B（两者相比，更喜欢A）即prefer + 名词 / 动名词 A + to + 名词 / 动名词 B（A 和 B 词性必须一致）
I prefer English to math because I like speaking with study partners.（比起数学，我更喜欢英语，因为我喜欢和学习伙伴交流。）
Luca prefers programming to making art in his free time.（卢卡空闲时间更喜欢编程，而不是搞艺术）
②prefer to do sth.（更愿意做某事；宁愿做某事）
She prefers to practice English in the morning because her memory is better.（她更喜欢早上练英语，因为记忆力更好。）
③prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.（宁愿做 A 而不愿做 B）
We prefer to walk to school rather than take the bus.（我们宁愿步行上学，也不愿坐公交。）
④prefer doing sth.（更喜欢做某事）—— 习惯性偏好
结构：prefer + 动名词（doing），表 “长期、习惯性的喜欢”，区别于 prefer to do（特定场合）
He prefers reading English novels in his free time.（他空闲时间更喜欢读英文小说）
9.worry的用法：
作动词，过去式：worried，现在分词:worrying.
①不及物动词，worry about sth./sb.
结构：主语 + worry about + 名词 / 代词 / 动名词（doing）
He worries about failing the English exam, so he studies hard every day.（他担心英语考试不及格，所以每天努力学习）
She often worries about her study partners in foreign countries.(她经常担心国外的学习伙伴)
②作及物动词,worry sb.（使某人担心）
结构：主语 + worry + 宾语（人）
Your late arrival worried your parents very much.（你迟到让父母非常担心。)
作名词
①不可数名词：worry（担心；忧虑）
with worry（带着忧虑）/without worry（无忧无虑）He faced the exam without worry because he prepared well.（他毫无忧虑地面对考试，因为准备充分。→ 学习话题）
②可数名词：worries（烦心事；担忧的事，复数）
My main worries are English grammar and speaking—so I practice every day.（我主要的烦恼是英语语法和口语，所以我每天练习。）
形容词形式：worried
结构：be worried about sth./sb
I am worried about my English exam—can you help me （我担心我的英语考试，你能帮我吗？）
10.inspire 作动词，过去式：inspired 现在分词：inspiring
核心含义两个：
激励；鼓舞（使某人有动力做某事）；
启发；赋予灵感（使某人产生想法、创意）
名词：inspiration（灵感；鼓舞人心的人 / 事）；
形容词：inspired（受激励的；有灵感的，修饰人）
inspiring（令人激励的；鼓舞人心的，修饰事物）
①inspire sth.（产生 / 激发某物)
The beautiful scenery during the trip inspired many of his poems.（旅行中的美景激发了他的很多诗作。
②inspire sb. to do sth.（激励 / 启发某人做某事）
