The question is who will do it.

在复合句中充当表语的从句叫表语从句。位于主句的系动词之后,对主语进行解释、说明,使主语的内容具体化。表语从句必须用陈述语序。

1.感官类系动词(sound, look, taste, smell, feel)
2.变化类系动 (get, fall, grow, turn, go, become…)
3.be动词 (am, is, are, was, were)
4.保持类系动词(keep, remain, stay)
5.似乎类系动词( seem, appear )
6.证明类系动词(prove, turn out)
表语从句的判断
系动词后的成分为表语。系动词后的从句为表语从句。
The fact was that he had forgotten about it.
Everything remained as it used to be in this room.
She looks as if she were ill.
The trouble was whether we could manage it ourselves or not.
The problem is not who will go, but who will stay.
This is how they overcame the difficulties.
He missed the lecture. It was because his flight was delayed.

Activity 1: Underline the linking verbs.
