①Which picture shows…?
②In which picture can we see…?
③Which picture can be used to express the topic of the passage?
④Which of the following (pictures) can match the information
in the passage?
样例:(2024广东阅读理解B)The researchers put a bowl behind a door. Inside the bowl, sometimes, there was something chickens love to eat, such as rice or insects. Sometimes, there was nothing. When the chickens saw food behind the door, they seemed happy and produced fast and loud sounds, known as food calls. When there wasn't food, the chickens made low and long noises to express disappointment. The researchers recorded all these sounds and studied their waves.
( )57. Which is most probably the sound wave of a happy call by a chicken
考生需留意文中表示先后顺序的关键词,如first, second, third, next, after, before, later, then等。
①Which is the right order of…?
②How does… work? Choose the right order.
③In which order did the following happen in…?
④Put the events about… in the correct order.
⑤Match… with the information and choose the right answer.
For those who would like to practice it at home, here are the steps:
Cut up the mint(薄荷). Put it into a bottle with olive(橄榄) oil.
Cover the bottle and place it in hot water.
When the water cools down, move the bottle to a warm area and leave it there for at least two hours.
Pour the mixture onto a thin piece of cotton cloth on top of a dark bottle. Let the oil go through the cloth into the bottle. Now you get your homemade mint oil.
( )54. What is the right order of the steps
A. ③→①→②→④ B. ②→④→①→③
C. ②→①→③→④ D. ③→②→④→①
样例:(2025广安)However, self driving cars are not perfect. They also have some problems. If something unexpected on the road happens, self driving cars cannot react(反应) as fast as human drivers.
样例:(2025达州)For centuries, lacquer fans(漆扇) have been loved for their beauty. Today, we'll take a look at the story behind lacquer fans.
Lacquer fans are special fans from China, and their history dates back to the Han Dynasty. Later, lacquer fans became one of the top collections in the art world during the Tang Dynasty. Lacquer is a natural varnish(清漆) from the lacquer tree. It was first used for wooden objects to protect them from water and insects. Over time, workers began to use lacquer to make and decorate(装饰) fans.
Lacquer fans are made with bamboo or wooden frames(框架). Traditionally, they are painted with different themes and patterns(图案), such as flowers, birds and people, to make them more beautiful. Although the ways of making fans continue to improve, workers still use traditional techniques(技艺) to create lacquer fans, keeping this ancient art alive.
Nowadays, lacquer fan painting is one of the most popular activities among young people. The process is quite simple. People first choose the colors they want to use, drop the colored lacquer into the water, stir(搅拌) it, put the fans in the water for a while, and then take them out. And that's it.
Many people like lacquer fans. Every fan is unique(独一无二的), like each of us.
( )60. What is the best structure of this passage (①= Paragraph 1, ②= Paragraph 2…)

①What would the writer talk about next/after the last paragraph?
②What might the writer continue talking about?
③What would the following paragraph talk about?
④In the next part, the writer would most probably talk
about .
⑤What might… do next?
样例:(2025安徽)These Dipteryx oleifera trees are very tall and have wide tops, making them 68% more likely to be struck by lightning than other trees. During the study, one of the Dipteryx trees was struck twice in 5 years yet continued to grow well.
At present, more studies suggest that these trees attract(吸引) lightning on purpose to destroy other trees and grow better. Scientists are not sure how these trees survive lightning, but they guess it may involve the trees' ability to carry electricity. They are also interested in other trees with similar characteristics.
( )26. What might scientists do next according to the text
A. Plant more Dipteryx oleifera trees.
B. Study how trees attract lightning better.
C. Find out where Dipteryx oleifera trees live.

故选A。
样例:(2025苏州) Behind this achievement is a long journey of careful research and bold thinking. It took the researchers over 10 years to develop the chip. 样例:(2025威海) On the second day, spend your time shopping at one of Hong Kong's many malls, such as IFC or Times Square. You can also shop at smaller stores in Soho and Sheung Wan as well. Unlike the markets, the prices are set, so you cannot change them. After shopping, if you want to experience Hong Kong's nightlife, head to Lan Kwai Fong. If not, go back to your hotel for a good night's rest.
( )9. Which italic(斜体) word has the same meaning as “set” in Paragraph 4
A. John lost a set of keys yesterday.
B. The evening meal is set at six o'clock.

Passage 4(原创)

Create Art with Nature!
Do you enjoy art and being outside Artscaping(艺术造景) lets you use nature to make art! It's a perfect activity for summer holidays.
What Is Artscaping
Art isn't just in museums — it's all around us! Artscaping means using natural materials like leaves, stones, or sticks to create art in places like parks, beaches, or woods. You don't need to pick or cut anything — just use what you find outside.
Artist Andy Goldsworthy says making art outside opens up the natural world. “Art has this amazing ability to show you what's there,” he explains.
Why Try Artscaping
●Stay calm: It slows you down, helping you notice small wonders you might usually miss, like shapes of leaves and details(细节) on them.
●Improve learning: Using your senses like seeing and feeling helps you learn and remember things more clearly.
●Build confidence: Creating beautiful patterns(图案) makes you feel good about yourself!
Best of all: It's free and fun with friends or families!
How to Start
●Collect: Find sticks, leaves, or little stones outside.

The Earthquake Alert(预警) System on Your Phone
How It Works
Many Android phones can now detect(检测) earthquakes. When phones feel strong shakes, they send signals(信号) to a safety center. If many phones report shaking at the same time, the system confirms(确认) an earthquake. Alerts will then be sent to nearby users before the shaking reaches them.
Why It Helps
In a recent 5.5 level earthquake near a city by the sea, people with earthquake alerts got warnings 10 20 seconds before the shaking started. This gave people enough time to stay safe and avoid getting hurt.
Two Alert Levels
*Not too strong shake (Level 1): A quiet message with safety tips.
*Very strong shake (Level 2): A full screen alert with loud sound, telling you to hide as quickly as possible.
How to Turn On Alerts
1. Go to Setting → Safety → Emergency → Earthquake Alert
2. Turn on the function
Note: iPhones do not have this system yet.
What to Do When You Get an Alert
1. Stay calm. Do not run.
2. Protect yourself: *Hide under a strong table. *Stay away from windows. *Do not use lifts.
3. After shaking stops:*Check for gas(天然气) smells. * Wear shoes to protect feet.
Remember:
√Keep your phone's position on.
√Keep your phone new with the latest system.
√Learn safety rules at school.
( )1. Why can the earthquake alert system know an earthquake is happening

B. It feels the strong shakes directly through one phone.
C. It gets warnings from the government's earthquake station.
D. It receives signals from many phones that feel shakes at the same time.
D
( )2. What is the purpose of mentioning the 5.5 level earthquake
A. To show how strong the 5.5 level earthquake is.

Today, teenagers have to face financial(财务的) decisions earlier than before. They may receive pocket money, save for something they want, or learn to avoid spending without thinking. __▲__.

However, many young people start their adult life without basic money management skills. This can lead to problems like debt(债务) or unwise spending. Spending without thinking is one of the biggest financial pitfalls for teenagers. Whether it's fast food, online shopping, or video games, money can disappear quickly without a plan. To avoid this, teenagers need to learn the difference between needs and wants. This helps them make smarter decisions with their money.
A simple method is the 24 hour rule: wait for a day before buying something they don't really need. For example, if a teenager sees a cool jacket online and wants it right away, waiting for a day can give them the space to consider. Many times, they will realize they don't actually need it, and that money can be used for something more meaningful.
Another useful way is to look at past buying together. By checking what they bought in a month, teenagers can see where they spent too much. This helps them change their habits and save for more meaningful goals.
Teaching teenagers how to manage money prepares them for a successful future. It lets them avoid unnecessary financial stress, make wise choices when dealing with income or expenses(支出) later, and lay a solid foundation(坚实的基础) for a better adult life — turning early money lessons into lifelong benefits.

A. To help teenagers learn to manage money well.
B. To tell teenagers about common financial problems.
C. To show teenagers how to earn more pocket money.

Passage 2(2025
When you make a mistake or say something wrong, it's easy to be hard on yourself. Then stress is caused. Feelings of anger, disappointment and sadness come along. That's why such stress needs to be dealt with.
Max, a 14 year old boy, used to be very competitive and always felt stressed. Now he is learning to give himself care and kindness. When he doesn't win or get the top marks, he talks to himself, “It's OK not to be perfect.” He knows he always does his best and that is enough.
What Max does is called self compassion(自我关怀). With self compassion, you treat yourself kindly like a friend. It allows you to forgive yourself when you mess up or fail. After feelings of guilt(愧疚) go away, you get more relaxed and you can think more clearly. This way self compassion makes you move forward. Many studies have shown it is of great help.
However, some disagree. They argue that self compassion leads people to be less active. But Breines and Chen's study had a different result. They gave students a difficult word test. The students were given the chance to study for a second test. They found that students who were kind to themselves after failing spent more time preparing.
Experts suggest that you should write a letter to yourself, describing the situation that causes your pain and accepting how you feel. Or you can do something you like to make yourself feel at peace. Suzy Reading, a psychologist(心理学家), suggests using a “gentle touch” like placing one or both hands on your heart, so you will feel safe and loved.

China is facing a big challenge: its population is getting older quickly. By the end of 2025, there were over 310 million people aged 60 or above, making up 22% of the total population. The number is expected to pass 400 million by 2035. This will bring more pressure to the traditional elderly care service system. There is also a serious shortage(短缺) of care workers. A report shows that in 2025, China needed 10 million more care workers. What's more, nearly 90% of the workers are over 50 years old.
To help solve these problems, the first Beijing Intelligent Eldercare Robot Application Competition(智能养老机器人应用大赛) was held recently. It shows that robots are a key method to China's aging problem. For example, some robots are used in nursing homes to help with daily activities, like feeding and bathing. They can also deal with difficult tasks, such as safely moving the old or changing the position of elderly people who are immobile. Besides physical help, there are also robots for monitoring(监测) health, keeping the elderly company and providing public panies from all parts of
the robot industry took part in to show how robots can meet different needs of the elderly.
Experts believe that although this field is just beginning, they feel very confident about the future. They point out that strong government support, helpful policies(政策), and many test projects are speeding up the development. At Xining Wildlife Park in Qinghai, Li Xiaoqing, an animal keeper, started caring for black necked cranes(鹤) three years ago.
“Black necked cranes are special birds. They are a bit shy and not easy to get close to. When they rest, they stand on one leg and put their heads under their wings,” Li said, her eyes shining like she was talking about her own kids.
As the only cranes that live in high mountains, black necked cranes mainly live on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. Because they are rare(罕见的) and have beautiful black and white feathers(羽毛), people call them the “giant pandas of birds”. They also show if wetland environments are healthy. Years ago, their numbers dwindled because of losing their homes and water pollution.
The park has tried hard to help them by building special birdhouses and monitoring their care around the clock. With more than ten cranes housed in the park, workers are training them to live
in nature again. The government also took action to repair wetlands and shut down factories near crane habitats(栖息地).
Thanks to these efforts, the black necked cranes are no longer in great danger. __▲__. In Qinghai, there are about 5,000 black necked cranes now, and they can be found in over 100 places.

How do you deal with cardboard boxes Have you ever made good use of them again Don't just throw them away. Most people think cardboard boxes are only junk, but they are wrong. Cardboard boxes can be reused in many ways. They can be just about anything you like! All you have to do is use your imagination.
A small cardboard box makes a great jewelry(首饰) box. First, cut a small box in half. This will allow it to open and close like a jewelry box. Next, cover the inside with a soft cloth. This will make a soft place for your jewelry to sit on. Then you can cover the outside of the box with another cloth. This will give it a better appearance.
A medium cardboard box makes a great basketball hoop(篮球筐). First, cut the top and bottom out of the box. Second, fix the box to a tree or a wall near your house. You can now shoot hoops whenever you like.
A large cardboard box makes a great pet house. First, cut the top and bottom out of the cardboard box. Next, glue them together like a house and make sure that they cover the top of the box. Then, cut a small “door” in the front of the box so that your pet can get in. This will be a great house for your pet, won't it
Making things out of cardboard boxes is fun. Best of all, it's completely free! You can find cardboard boxes anywhere!

The universe is everything around us. It includes space, all the matter and energy in space, and even time. The stars like the Sun, and planets like the Earth are part of it. These planets go around the Sun, which is just one star among billions. The Moon is neither a planet nor a star. It circles the Earth and is also part of this solar system(太阳系).
Scientists say the solar system is about 4.6 billion years old. They found this by studying rocks and small space stones. The Earth seems permanent, but it's not. The Sun, much bigger than the Earth, will change too, possibly growing large enough to take in nearby planets like the Earth one day.
The universe is about 13.8 billion years old. Scientists found this by looking at old stars and how fast the universe is getting bigger. __▲__ This surprises scientists, because they expected gravity(引力) to slow the stars down.
The Earth and humans are very young compared to the universe. Life on Earth has been around for 3.8 billion years, but humans have only been here about 300,000 years. That's a tiny bit of time — like a second in a whole year! We've explored only our own solar system, and even then, we haven't seen all the planets and stars.
With new technology and curiosity, we keep learning about the universe. How did the universe begin Are there other planets with life Though space is big and full of secrets, each discovery helps us understand our place in it. The more we learn, the more we want to explore.
