They must take advantageof the early-season boom in insects that started with springtime plant growth to produce healthy young. But asglobal climate change caused spring to start earlier, birds such as western tanagers were arriving at their destinationafter what was known as “green-up”, when flowers began blooming and insects popped up. With the shift of thetime when plants put out new leaves, western tanagers became more likely to reach their destinations when food isin shortage or after insect numbers have begun to drop.Scott Loss, a professor at Oklahoma State University and his colleagues used satellite imagery to calculate theaverage start of spring green-up along the typical migration routes of 150 North American bird species, and thencompared that timing with the current green-up. They found that spring was indeed beginning earlier along birds’migration routes. The trend continued this year. The paper continued to build this picture of the inability of birds to track the changing seasons caused byclimate change. Timing mismatches between birds and their food could affect whether birds survived the migrationand how many chickens they had.Morgan Tingley, a researcher at UCLA said that the migration research could indicate conservation efforts inthe future. “Part of it suggested which species were vulnerable(易受伤害的)to various threats,” Tingley said.“This added to the knowledge about vulnerability of a wide range of bird species.” And he hoped that theinformation would serve to highlight the urgent need to lower greenhouse-gas emissions as fast as possible: “It wasreally important, if we couldn’t address climate change immediately, to try to stop habitat loss as much as we can.”28. During the migration, what will happen to the western tanagers after “green-up” A. They will struggle to find enough insects and berries.B. They will have difficulty finding suitable nesting sites.C. They will hardly find blooming flowers for reproduction.D. They will find it hard to survive worse weather conditions.29. What is the direct result of the timing mismatch between birds and their food A. The loss of birds’ habitats.B. The decrease of birds’ survival rate.C. The contribution to the greenhouse effectD. The increase of difficulty in biodiversity conservation.30. What is Morgan Tingley’s attitude towards the research findings in the last paragraph A. Uncertain. B. Critical. C. Concerned. D. Doubtful31. Which of the following is the best title for the text A. The Diverse Patterns of Bird migrationB. The timing Mismatch of Western TanagersC. The Impact of Climate Change on Migratory BirdsD. The Vulnerability of Bird Species to Various ThreatsDWhen watching sports events, we often notice athletes with their earphones on while preparing in the lockerroom or entering the stadium. They keep their eyes shut, and gently nod along the beats. It seems as if the music isempowering them and toughening them up for the competition. But is there any science behind such practice According to a recent research, it turns out there is. Music actually does make us feel powerful, but not allsongs have the same effect. The research was led by Dennis Hsu of the Kellogg School of Management atNorthwestern University in the US. His team had people listen to 31 songs of different types. The listeners feltpowerful after listening to some songs, such as Queen’s We Will Rock You and 2 Unlimited’s Get Ready for This.Researchers also found that high-power music made people want to take control in social events and come first incompetition. As for the reason for music’s magical power, Hsu’s team came up with one possible explanation:When people hear music that expresses a sense of power, they mimic these feelings in their mind. So, when choosing music, we need to look at the type of music. In previous research by the Music in Exerciseand Sport Group at Brunel University in London, they found that pop was perfect for slower, more repetitive-typetasks. Dance music was found to be best suited to strength and weight training because it’s “fast and rhythmic”.During high-intensity workouts, though, you’d better not listen to rock. Its different changes in tempo can affectyour rhythm.32. Why athletes were mentioned in the first paragraph A. To list things athletes have in common with other people.B. To describe athletes’ common habits before sports games.C. To get readers to wonder whether music matters in sports.D. To explain why athletes like listening to music before games.33. Which of the following statements might Dennis Hsu agree with A. Listening to music can always boost the athlete’s performance.B. People listening to powerful music are likely to produce similar feelings.C. The result of a game is mainly affected by the physical condition of the players.D. Most athletes don’t know the effects of high-power music on their performance.34. If you want to cool down after exercise, what kind of music will be suitable A. Pop music. B. Dance music. C. Rock. D. Blues.35. How did the author make his points clear A. With comparisons. B. Through examples.C. By giving general rules. D. This keyboard design was made to stop mechanical jams by slowingtypists down—a smart solution to a technical problem. 36 It brought new job chances, especially forwomen, who started to join the workforce as secretaries in large numbers. For nearly a century, the typewriter was the core of business, journalism and government. Every city is arranged differently. Geography, climate and culture are just a few of thefactors that influence how a city is laid out. People who design cities are called city planners. Their job is to makesure everything fits together and meets the needs of the people who live there. Katherine Perez has been a cityplanner in Los Angeles for 30 years. City planners can work for private companies—as Perez does, or for local orstate governments. Perez loves cities because each of them is unique. “There are different issues and conditions thataffect each of these communities,” she said. “And I find city planning interesting because of those issues andconditions.” Perez has seen her field change a lot. For example, some of her projects in Southern California involvegenerating electricity while reducing the amount of harmful greenhouse gases. But Perez thinks one thing shouldremain unchanged: working with all city residents to make sure their ideas about how the city is designed are heard. That’s why she believes city planners must be good listeners who can “help people see how they make a big ideareal”. 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源列表 2025-2026学年沈阳市郊联体高一上期末英语听力.mp3 2025-2026学年沈阳市郊联体高一上期末英语试卷含答案.pdf
