Unit 1 Animal Friends
Section 3 Section A Grammar Focus
Content Analysis
The grammar learning in this class period is carried out gradually through a series of carefully designed dialogues and statements. Through these activities, students can inquire about information related to animals, express the reasons why they like or dislike them, and use adjectives to describe animals.
This period consists of a series of brief dialogues and statements revolving around animals. The core grammar items of this unit are special interrogative sentences led by “what”, “where”, “why”, etc., which are used to inquire about information related to animals. In the context of this unit, adjectives for describing animals and the usage of plural nouns to represent animal species are also integrated. It should be noted that “a/the + singular noun” can also be used to represent animal species.
By simulating conversations in real-life scenarios, students can observe the correspondence between the singular and plural forms of animal nouns and pronouns and initially establish an awareness of referential relationships. Additionally, these activities not only deepen students’ understanding of the rules for noun pluralization but also strengthen their grasp of using “because” to introduce reasons and using adjectives to describe animals.
