Dear Jack,
I’m Li Hua from Class 1, Senior 3. I’m writing with sincerity to extend my heartfelt gratitude for you and the week-long English-themed club activity you orgainzed.
Throughout the week, we engaged in an array of elaborately prepared activities, ranging from language games, debates, to a forum of cultural exchange. Of primary note was the discussions on global issues, from which not only did I enhance my oral English, but I also broadened my horizons and encouraged me to think critically about the world around me. It was truly an enriching and rewarding experience for me.
Once again, thank you for your efforts in making this event possible./ In a nutshell, it was indeed a memorable and rewarding experience, and I’m looking forward to more such a meaningful activity.
One summer morning, I, a horse vet, looked at the list of appointments, mentally checking off items required for each farm visit. The last appointment caught my eye: "Mrs. Deerfield - old horse, near Pete's grocery...
When I drove past that grocery store, it was around 5:00 p.m. and the sun sat on the horizon. Minutes later, I reached the beautiful Deerfield house. Standing on the steps was an elderly, white-haired lady.
"You must be Dr. Godfrey," she greeted me with a smile. "Yes. Is your horse not doing well " I responded as I closed the truck door. She nodded and explained that her horse Buck didn't eat or drink. As we walked towards the barn, she revealed that Buck was 45 years old. I was surprised, realizing a 45-year-old horse was equivalentto a 135-year-old person!"
He was just a year old when I purchased him as a gift for my late husband, Earl ,she recalled. "Earl had always enjoyed horseback riding, and Buck brought him so much joy." She went on to share that Earl had passed away several months before, and ever since then, Buck's condition had steadily declined.

As we reached the barn (谷仓), I saw the horse lying quietly and he was so old and weak. After a thorough examination, I discovered that his condition was truly terrible. His heart and other organs were shutting down. Regrettably, I had to deliver the sad news that the horse didn't have much time left and there was nothing further I could do to relieve his suffering.
Tears welled up in Mrs. Deerfield's eyes as she heard that. She suspected Buck just really missed Earl and wanted to be with him. With a heavy sigh, Mrs. Deerfield spoke in a voice that was choked with emotion, "It's time to take Buck to the tree, where he and Earl shared so many wonderful moments." As she pointed toward a tree in a corner of the farm, she explained that before Earl's passing, he had dug a hole by the tree, intending to bury Buck there when the time came. She added, “Earl hoped Buck would leave this world by the tree peacefully.”

Tips
