lt’s the 31st of December-New Year’ s Eve. In many countries around the world, people are throwing parties, in their homes, out on the streets etc.
Ten seconds before midnight, the countdown begins: 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2 ... Happy New Year! Fireworks go off, and people hug each other, shouting and cheering. Some people even celebrate until dawn, singing and dancing.
At New Year, people think about making a new start. They think about the changes they’re going to make and the things they’re going to do in the coming year. They make promises to themselves which are called New Year’s resolutions. They hope to follow the resolutions and become better in the coming year.
