Is there a connection between volunteering and health？ Could volunteering offer a way to improve kids’ mental health？
According to a new study， kids who volunteer aren’t just helping their communities. They might be helping themselves as well. Scientists have found that volunteering in schools or communities is connected with better health among children and teens.

The study compared（比较） kids who took part in community service with those who didn’t. Kids who volunteered were 66％ more likely to be considered “flourishing”， or to do well. And kids aged 12 and older who volunteered were 25％ less likely to have anxiety（焦虑）.
Parents of 50，000 kids aged 6 to 17 in the United States took a survey. The findings of the survey showed that volunteering has a positive effect. It helps to raise the level of happiness and life-satisfaction and improve mental health.
