There are many advantages of e-books. As we all know, we can easily download new e-books from the Internet. It is much easier and quicker to search for passages now, and we can also write notes on the e-book pages. What is more, they save a lot of paper.

五、 (2025·聊城期末)阅读理解。
Researchers have tried to find the difference between print and onscreen reading. The results are fuzzy. Some studies have found there is little difference between reading print pages and looking at screens. Others have found a poorer understanding and a shorter memory among screen readers.

In one of the studies, researchers gave some students a story, and told one group it was not real and the other that it was real. Among those who were told the story was not real, there was little difference between screen and print readers. Among those who thought they were reading facts, the screen readers had less sympathy(同感) and noticed fewer details.
On my morning train, I read my newspaper from an app. When I get into the office and read the print newspaper, I find I have read most of it but not all. When I use an app, I read what I am interested in. When I read a print newspaper, I find myself reading things I did not know I was interested in.

Reading from a mobile phone is useful, but it is narrower than reading from the print pages. A newspaper offers a broader vision. There is a good chance not only that you will come across unexpected information, but that you will connect it to other things you have read. This is important for those who want to know the opportunities and changes. However, it is not an either/or. You also have to get into the digital world to know how it affects the world. When I meet a young digital native who reads print newspapers, I believe he will have a great future.

( D )1. What can we know from the second paragraph?
A. What people read cannot affect their reading behaviour.
B. People read very differently on the screen and on the print pages.
C. One group of students read a real story, and the other read an unreal story.
D. If we want to understand a story better, we should read print pages.
D

( B )2. Which of the following opinions may the writer agree with?
A. Reading from an app is much better than reading print pages.
B. A broader vision can help one know the opportunities and changes.
C. Young people can have a great future without reading print pages.
D. One should choose print or onscreen reading instead of both.
B

( D )3. The best title for this article is “ ”.
A. Reading makes a great future
B. More screens, less sympathy
C. Find out the difference
D. Print and onscreen reading
D
