六、 阅读短文,根据短文内容判断正(T)误(F)。
人与社会——人际交往
You’ve heard it a million times already, but it really does take a few seconds to make that all-important first impression. Here are some easy ways for you to impress your classmates or teachers.
Have a right handshake. Before you shake hands with somebody, make sure that your hands are clean. The handshake should not be too strong or too weak. If they don’t have reason to use their left hand, most people use the right one. However, don’t have your left hand in your pocket because this is impolite.

Be on time. When you meet someone for the first time, arriving on time is as important as breathing. You may have an excuse, but that will leave a bad impression on the person who doesn’t know you well enough. As a general rule, plan to arrive about 30 minutes early. It’s better to move around the place than to be stuck in traffic.
Introduce yourself and ask about the names. Make sure you properly introduce yourself. Ask about their names politely. Repeat the names and use them later in conversation. This will make it easier for them to remember your name in the future. Always remember to stand up when greeting someone and be sure to introduce them to anyone you’re with.

Make good conversation. To get the most out of your discussion, try to find something in common between the two of you. It could be a similar(类似的) taste in clothes or a common hobby. A person will feel more comfortable with someone he can easily talk to.

1. You should shake hands with others strongly. F
2. It’s not polite to leave your left hand in your pocket. T
3. You can still leave a good impression if you have an excuse for being late. F

人与社会——公共秩序与法律法规
Every year, several thousand people die in the car accidents in Great Britain. And between one and two hundred thousand people are hurt.
There are rules to make the roads safe, but people do not always follow the rules. They are careless. If everybody obeys the rules, the roads will be much safer. How can we make the roads safer?

Remember this rule. In Great Britain, traffic keeps to the left. Cars, buses and bikes must all keep to the left side of the road. In most other countries, traffic keeps to the right.
Before crossing the road, stop and look both ways. Look right and left. Then, if you are sure that the road is clear, it is safe to cross the road. If you see small children or very old people, help them to cross the road. We must teach our children to cross the road safely. We must always give them a good example. Small children must not play in the street.

二、 (跨道德与法治·交通规则)阅读短文,根据短文内容完成句子。
Road accidents keep happening in every city, on every road and at any time. Traffic rules are made to keep order on the road. They can also help to keep the pedestrians(行人) safe.
The pedestrian has as many rules to follow as the driver of a car. You should walk on the sidewalk or at the edge of the road. Always look carefully before you walk across the street. If you ride a bike, don’t ride in the middle of the road or look around to talk. If you drive, you should slow down at the traffic lights. You must always wear a seat belt. Without the belts, both the driver and the passengers may be badly hurt in a sudden accident.
Traffic rules are also called road safety rules. The maxim(格言) for all road users is “Thinking about others”. It’s important for everyone to follow the traffic rules.

1. People make traffic rules because they can keep order on the road and also help to keep the pedestrians safe.

三、 (2025·西安期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容完成表格。
If you are asked to chair a meeting, remember the following six golden rules for meeting management.
Always start the meeting on time. If you begin on time, group members who show up late will realise the value of time. Beginning on time shows the skill as an effective time manager and sets an example for others to follow.

Select a note-taker or have the meeting recorded. You may need to go back to something that was discussed during the meeting at a later date. Good record-keeping is a sign of a good meeting manager as well.
Learn to listen. So many times we think about what we are going to say and, in the process, miss important points that other group members may be talking about. What’s more, we often hear only what we want to hear, instead of really listening to other people. Meetings with effective listening are successful meetings.

Keep the discussion on track(轨道). Many times an important topic can get sidetracked(转变话题) in a meeting, especially when everyone has a different opinion about the topic. Ask members who have different opinions to meet with you after the meeting. Doing so will help keep the discussion on track and reduce the chances of wasting group members’ time of great value.

Give everyone an opportunity to be heard. Some people like to control meetings, while others wait to be asked their opinions. As the leader of the meeting, you need to keep an open mind and make sure everyone feels welcome to express ideas freely.
End on time. If you said the meeting would last no longer than one hour, finish the meeting within only one hour. Otherwise, it makes members late for other appointments, increases the chances that the members will mentally leave the meeting and reduces your reliability as an effective meeting manager.

Two men were sitting together on an airplane. They were on a long journey. One of the men was a teacher. The other was a cook.
They sat without talking for a while. Then the cook said, “Let’s do something to kill the time.”
“What do you want to do?” the teacher asked. “We can ask each other riddles(谜语),” the cook said. “You start.”

“Let’s make the rules first,” the teacher said. “To make the game more interesting, we play it for money. If we don’t know the answer to a riddle, we have to pay a dollar.”
The cook thought about it and said, “That’s not fair. You are a teacher, an educated man. You know more things than I do. I am just a cook.”
“That’s true,” the teacher said. “What’s your suggestion?” “If you don’t know the answer to a riddle, you need to pay me $100. If I don’t know the answer to a riddle, I’ll pay you $50,” the cook said.

Thinking for a while, the teacher said, “OK. That’s fair. Who’ll go first?”
“I will,” the cook said. “Here is my riddle. What has three legs when it walks, but only two legs when it flies?”
The teacher repeated the riddle, “What has three legs when it walks, but only two legs when it flies? Mm, that’s a good one. I’m afraid I don’t know the answer.”
