四、 阅读理解。
Taipingnijiaojiao, one of the provincial intangible cultural heritages
(非物质文化遗产) from Zhenjiang, is special for its kneading(捏)
skills, using tools from daily life and decorations with traditional elements
(元素).
About 20 years ago, Zhou Baokang first noticed taipingnijiaojiao
during a temple fair(庙会) in Huashan Village, Zhenjiang. As a lover of
folk art, he was soon attracted to it. Now, the old man is an inheritor(传
承人) of the traditional art form.

Taipingnijiaojiao looks just like a clay toy. But it can be used as a
whistle(哨子). It’s said to date back to the Southern dynasty, with a
history of over 1,000 years. Often, it uses traditional cultural elements
that carry good meanings, like plum blossoms(梅花).
Anyone can try making taipingnijiaojiao, according to Zhou. The key
is kneading it with your fingers. “Without any drafts(草图), you just
turn a clump of mud into the thing you want, from animals to plants,”
Zhou said. To decorate it, you can use anything from combs to spoons as
tools. “For colouring, you can even use oil paint if you don’t have
pigments(颜料),” Zhou added.

Zhou particularly loves to make taipingnijiaojiao in the shape of
animals. He makes taipingnijiaojiao for the Chinese animal sign of each
year. In 2022, while making tigers, he tried to show the spirit of the
“king of all beasts” through simple but exaggerated(夸张的) details,
like big mouths and teeth. “I was inspired by the xieyi style of painting,
which stresses simplicity,” Zhou said.
Zhou works hard to pass on his skills. He has been teaching kids to
make the toy at schools for many years. He has also opened a folk art
museum to display the toy. “Taipingnijiaojiao is a small toy that carries rich
traditional culture. We should pass it down,” Zhou said.

( A )1. Why does taipingnijiaojiao attract Zhou Baokang?
A. Because he loves folk art very much.
B. Because he is an inheritor of the traditional art.
C. Because he wants to teach kids to make toys.
D. Because anyone can try making taipingnijiaojiao.
A

( C )2. According to the passage, which of the following is true
about making taipingnijiaojiao?
A. People can’t knead it with their fingers.
B. Oil paint will not be allowed for colouring it.
C. Tools like combs and spoons can be used while making it.
D. Different from the xieyi style of painting, it stresses simplicity.
C

( D )3. What does Zhou Baokang think about taipingnijiaojiao?
A. It is just a small toy.
B. It uses modern cultural elements.
C. It has big mouths and teeth.
D. It carries rich traditional culture.
D

阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。
从模型少年到航拍创客的蜕变
Instead of playing with toys, Yang loved making models himself when
he was little.
His parents bought him model cars and airplanes, but he preferred
using plastic bottles to make his own.

When he started middle school, Yang began putting even more effort
into making model air-planes. Once, he locked himself up in his room to
build a 5-metre-long wooden hang glider. He covered the frame with his
bed sheet as he couldn’t afford the proper material for the wings. Yang
wanted to try flying the glider by jumping off a hill, but his father found out
about his plan and thought it was too dangerous. So his father destroyed the
plane.

But this didn’t stop Yang from building model airplanes.
When he entered university, the mechanical and electronic knowledge
he learned in class helped him build more sophisticated models. He founded
a model airplane club and became the best airplane builder on campus.
His parents gave him 1,000 yuan every month, of which he spent
more than 700 on model airplanes.
He didn’t know his expensive hobby could actually help him make
money until 2011, when he met his high school classmate Tang who told
Yang that aerial photography was a profitable(有利润的) business.

“One aerial photo can be worth 5,000 yuan,” Tang said. With
Tang’s business knowledge and Yang’s mechanical expertise, the two
founded an aerial photography company.
Yang spent another year making preparations. “For the first two
months, I practised my control skills. Then I spent 10 months improving
the photography skills to get good pictures,” he said.
Although he had hypoglycemia(低血糖) because of overwork,
Yang never complained. “If this business idea succeeds, it could support
my hobby. When I think about that, I feel excited,” he said.

四、 阅读理解。〔人与自我——做人与做事〕
Part of growing up is learning how to work things out by yourself.
However, when you’re feeling lost, you don’t have to be alone.
There are lots of reasons why you could need help, for example, with
schoolwork, learning a new skill, or when you feel sad or angry. Feeling
down because you’re finding something difficult, or that it’s taking a long
time to make progress, can also make you feel like you can’t do it. These
are all signs that you need help. When you’re struggling with something but
you tell yourself you should do it on your own, asking for help will move
you forward more quickly.

Asking for help isn’t always easy. It can be tricky if you’re not sure who
to ask. You might feel worried that they won’t want to help or have no time.
If you’re ashamed that you need help, or if you think asking for a helping
hand is a sign of weakness, it makes it harder to turn to another person. A
counsellor who advises young people says, “We may feel scared that it
won’t be taken seriously or that it isn’t a big deal to another person.”

Everyone finds things difficult sometimes. The counsellor believes
asking for help is brave. By asking for help, you can also practise speaking
up for yourself and saying what you need. It also shows you how someone
else might feel when they’re struggling, which means you might be more
able to offer a helping hand when someone needs it.

A. We are not brave enough.
B. Others don’t have free time.
C. The problem isn’t taken seriously.

( C )4. What lesson does this passage teach us?

B. God helps those who help themselves.
C. A problem shared is a problem halved.
D. A man becomes learned by asking questions.
