It didn’t happen overnight. But over the years, Rick began to be careful about his words. He said he had these changes because of Holly’s words. “She cared enough to say something to me, something that probably wasn’t easy to say,” he said. “But it was something that changed me.”

Fast fashion has grown rapidly in recent years. However, this growth comes with serious environmental and other problems.
Compared to traditional fashion, fast fashion causes more carbon emissions (碳排放). To keep costs low, the fast fashion industry uses cheap materials, such as polyester (涤纶), to make clothes. These materials can create three times more carbon emissions than cotton.
What’s worse, fast fashion brings a “throwaway” culture. People buy cheap clothes that quickly go out of style. With new styles arriving weekly, shoppers keep buying more instead of reusing old clothes. As a result, there is a lot of waste.
Fast fashion also reduces costs by treating workers unfairly. A study shows there are about 75 million factory workers in the global fast fashion industry. However, fewer than 2% of them earn enough money to live on.
There is no beauty in the finest clothes if they bring hunger and unhappiness. It reminds us of the hidden costs behind the fast fashion industry. True beauty lies in clothes made with care, without harming people or the planet.
Look at the following numbers:
When you wash a basket of polyester clothes, it lets out 700,000 tiny plastic fibers (纤维). These fibers get into our food and water in the end.
The global fashion industry uses 93,000 million m3 of water each year.
The fashion industry causes 10 percent of global carbon emissions every year. If today’s situation continues, its carbon emissions are expected to increase by about 50 percent by 2030.
66.Why does the fast fashion industry use polyester to make clothes
A.To reduce costs. B.To protect the environment.
C.To keep fashionable. D.To make comfortable clothes.
67.What culture does fast fashion bring
A.”Beauty” culture. B.”New Styles” culture.
C.”Throwaway” culture. D.”Compare” culture.
68.Which word is close to the underlined word “earn”
A.Make. B.Find. C.Lose. D.Invent.
69.Which chart (图表) shows the fashion industry’s carbon emissions
A. B.
C. D.

A.The Future of the Fast Fashion Industry B.The Materials of Fast Fashion Industry
C.The Development of the Fast Fashion Industry D.The Negative Influence of the Fast Fashion Industry
六、任务型阅读(满分10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
Last year, a “student” did very well in an online university health course in the U.S. This student joined class talks, scored high on tests, and wrote excellent papers. But here’s the surprise—it wasn’t a real person. It was ChatGPT, an AI program! Some scientists signed it up for the course. They wanted to see if AI could do college-level work and if teachers would notice.
ChatGPT not only finished all the work but got an A with 99.36 points. It was almost the best in the class. No one realized it was AI. The scientists said they didn’t help ChatGPT much. They only checked the grammar in the final paper.
However, the scientists aren’t happy about this result. They worry because some schools have no tools to find AI writing. Then teachers have to check students’ work one by one themselves. At present, even experienced teachers often can’t tell whether the writing is done by AI. But, some special AI tools are much better at finding AI-made text. They are just like X-ray machines in hospital. Without them, schools can’t work properly.
The scientists also worry about something else. If AI can get an A easily, real students might use it to cheat. So the scientists warn schools to stop students cheating in their study. They suggest using special tools to make sure students do their own work. Schools shouldn’t let students graduate without truly learning anything. That would be unfair.
In short, while AI can do amazing things, schools need to use technology wisely to keep education honest and fair for everyone.
71.Why did some scientists sign ChatGPT up for the course
72.What did the scientists do to help with ChatGPT’s final paper
73.Which tools are better at finding AI-made text
74.What do the scientists worry about after they got the result (写出一个答案即可)
