Language points
1. Rich in history and culture, Nanjing has long been a popular tourist attraction.南京有着丰富的历史和文化，长久以来一直是人们喜爱的旅游胜地。
短语rich in history and culture是说明性状语，也称作主语补语。修饰主语的形容词或形容词短语可放在句首充当这类成分，用以说明主语的状态、性质或特征。
e.g. Hungry and tired, I entered the restaurant and had a bowl of jiaozi.
我又饿又累，走进那家餐馆，吃了一碗饺子。
2. Around the old city centre of Nanjing, there is a wall with a history of over 600 years.
with引导的介词短语作后置定语的用法。关键结构为"with + 名词 + 介词短语"，其中：1."with"表示"具有"的伴随含义
2."a history of"是固定搭配，指"有……的历史"
3.时间短语（如2000 years）需放在of之后

history n. historic adj.

choice——choose——chose——chosen
常见搭配：have a choice(有选择) make a choice(做出选择)
have no choice but to do ，表示"除了做……以外，别无选择"或"只好做……"
be chosen to do 意思是被选为干某事
e.g. I had no choice but to wait. 除了等，我没有别的选择。

be well worth doing sth. 意为很值得做某事。
be well worth doing sth. 是一个常用的英语表达，用来表示某事非常值得去做。这里的well可以用来加强worth的程度，表示“很”或“非常”的意思。
e.g. This film is well worth seeing. 这个电影很值得一看。
5. Nanjing is a famous centre of knowledge and learning.
famous作形容词时意为著名的、闻名的，众所周知的
固定搭配：
①be famous for：因某事/某物而闻名，后接出名的原因，与be known for同义。当主语是人时，表示以某种知识、技能、作品或特征而出名；当主语是地点时，表示以某种特点（产品）而出名；当主语是事物时，表示以其内容、特征、价值等而被人所知。
e.g. He is famous for his great inventions.
因为他的伟大发明，他出名了。
②be famous as 作为某身份/职业而出名，后接表示职业、身份或地位等的词，与be known as同义。当主语是人时，表示以某种身份而出名；当主语是地点时，表示以什么样的产地/地方而出名；当主语是事物时，表示以某种形式出名。
e.g. The town is famous as a wine-producing place.
这个镇是一个出名的产酒镇。
③be famous to 为某人所熟知，后接人。
e.g. Yao Ming is famous to most young people.
姚明为大多数年轻人所熟知。
6. Besides its many universities, the city is also proud of the Confucius Temple. 除了拥有众多大学之外，这座城市还以夫子庙为傲。
be proud of 以……自豪
e.g. I am proud of my daughter's achievements.
我为我的女儿的成就感到自豪。
e.g. He takes pride in his work. 他对自己的工作感到骄傲。
take pride in 对……感到满意
夫子庙位于南京市贡院西街、秦淮河北岸。始建于北宋，原为供奉和祭祀孔子之地，南宋时为府学，并建有考场贡院，明初曾为国子监，清为县学。夫子庙具有鲜明浓郁的地方特色和文化气息，是展示古都风貌的重要窗口。
7. Why not take a boat trip along the nearby Qinhuai River at night
"Why not... "的意思是"为什么不……呢 "，常用来表达对别人的一种建议或劝说，Why not后面要接原形动词，即"Why not do sth. "句型中的not代替的是don't you或don't we。
Why not do.. =Why don't you/Why don't we...
e.g. —Why not have dinner on the lake
—That sounds a great idea.
注意："Why not... "也可以表达说话人的一种惊奇和不满的反问。
e.g. —Go shopping now !

a good way to do sth. 做某事的好方法
e.g. Listening to music is a great way to relax.

a good way of doing sth. 做某事的好方法
e.g. A good way of learning English is through practice.
学习英语的一个好方法是实践。
9. It is one of the birthplaces of Chinese culture and used to be the seat of power of thirteen dynasties. 它（洛阳）是中国文化的发源地之一，曾是十三个王朝的中央政府所在地。
used to do sth. 表示过去常常做某事，描述过去某个时间段内经常发生但现在已经不再进行的动作或状态
e.g. His father used to smoke. 他爸爸以前常常吸烟
be used to doing sth. 表示习惯于做某事，强调的是一个人对某种状态或行为已经适应或习惯了
e.g. He is used to living alone. 他习惯一个人住。
be used to do 表示“被用来做某事”，强调某物或某人的功能和用途
e.g. The knife is used to cut grass. 这把刀是用来割草的。
洛阳是中国古都之一，历史上先后有夏、商、西周、东周等十三个王朝在此建都，是建都时间最早，设为都城时间最长的城市。洛阳也是丝绸之路的东方起点之一。

In my opinion, the beautiful scenery makes a city worth visiting. As a nature lover, I always look for places of natural beauty while travelling.
In my opinion, the local food makes a city worth visiting. To be honest, I am a foodie. Last weekend, I even flew to Chongqing just to have spicy hot pot. With mouthwatering food, I felt pleased and satisfied.
I think art and culture make a city worth visiting. I am especially interested in museums. I believe visiting museums is the best way to learn about a city.
You can either travel or read, and either your body or soul must be on the way.
