Morgan Hartman was born with both physical and cognitive (认知

Hartman, never wanted to see that spirit dulled. But unfortunately, at
times it was.
“In 2006, we were on a family vacation where I watched Morgan
not be able to participate in a pool activity with three other children, and
it was simply because of her lack of expression, ” Gordon said.“It
almost puts a lump (肿块) in your throat because it gives you a sad
feeling that all Morgan wanted was to participate. She just wanted to
play.”
After seeing this, Gordon started on a quest to create a space where
no one felt left out.His idea: an inclusive theme park.He had experience
as a builder and enlisted help from other experts to turn his dream into
what is now Morgan’s Wonderland. The park, opened in 2010, is
believed to be the only one like it in the world and it has expanded to a
sports center and camp with an outdoor adventure park.Across all the
recreation areas, all are fully accessible to everyone with physical and
mental disabilities.
Gordon has seen first-hand how an accessible theme park can change
lives through joy.“I met a couple from Mexico City. And they had never
had a chance to do so, because of their special needs, even a chance to
play in water together. They heard about it and came here. They cried with
me and talked to me about how this was the most wonderful opportunity
they ever had,” he said.
Morgan’s Wonderland has welcomed visitors from dozens of
countries and all 50 states of the USA — and those with disabilities enter
for free.“It’s the small things that make the big difference: Having
fun,” Gordon said.“Here at Morgan’s Wonderland and all the
different Morgan’s venues, you don’t watch.You participate.”

  Disneyland’s opening day, 17 July 1955, was a nightmare.Rides
broke down.Restaurants ran out of food and drink.Long lines formed at
bathrooms. All in front of a national audience of 90 million, Disney’s
opening day would be known in Disney history as Black Sunday. But
Disneyland’s story actually started twenty years earlier with what Walt
Disney called “Daddy’s Day”.
On Saturdays in the 1930s and 1940s, Disney would take his two
daughters to ride the Griffith Park merry-go-round.Disney saw the
amusement parks they often visited as dirty and unimaginative places run
by unfriendly employees. He thought he could do better.
In 1939, he asked two employees to work on a plan for an
amusement park. The pair spent six weeks visiting parks around the
country and came up with a proposal (提议).
In 1948, Disney laid out his plans for a Mickey Mouse Park,
which included a town square, a city hall, a fire station and a movie
theater.
By 1952 the idea had grown into a 16-acre park proposal that he
presented to Burbank, California officials. However, the City Council
didn’t accept the proposal.
Disney counted the refusal as a fortunate setback.By now, his
dreams for a theme park had gone far beyond the space available in
Burbank. He examined locations throughout Southern California.160-acre
land, 22 miles south of Los Angeles, was soon chosen.
Groundbreaking took place in July 1954, and Disney walked the site
daily to offer direction and encouragement.
Disneyland wasn’t ready on opening day, but Disney decided to
open the gates anyway to the media and invited guests. After the madness
of opening day, newspaper headlines wrote: “Walt’s
Nightmare”.The media foresaw a quick and early end.
However, the public didn’t listen.Visitors arrived in droves, and
within weeks Disneyland was a success.Within two months, the park had
welcomed its millionth visitor.Sixty years later, Disneyland’s
popularity continues to grow, and shows no signs of slowing down with
total overall attendance topping 700 million.

Mickey Mouse welcomed visitors to his new home in China on 16
June 2016 as Disney opened its second theme park in the country.
The park, located in the city of Shanghai, opened with fireworks.
Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney
Resort, said, “I can promise you that there is still so much left to be
revealed, and I cannot wait to share it all with you in the months and
years to come.”
Tens of thousands streamed into Shanghai Disneyland for its debut
(问世), an event that was nearly two decades in the making. The $
5.5 billion resort (度假胜地) covers 963 acres, but Disney has
already begun expansion.
Company officials said they tried to reflect Chinese preferences in the
new park.
“We didn’t build Disneyland in China, we built China’s
Disneyland,” said Bob Iger, Disney’s chairman.
There’s a traditional Chinese tea house featuring local food. The
Lion King performed in Mandarin for the first time features the Monkey
King and characters dressed in Chinese opera garb(服装)to appeal to an
Asian audience.
In the castle, guests not only walk through, as they do in other
Disney parks, they can also eat and shop. When it was discovered that
Chinese people didn’t have a favourite Disney princess, the company
decided that the castle would feature all the princesses.Parks in California
and France are based on the Sleeping Beauty story.
“The visitors can learn the princesses over time, and this gives
them an opportunity to have an introduction to all of the princess
stories,” said executive producer Ali Rubinstein.
However, China’s Disneylands sometimes are not closely related
to China.Disney’s only animated film based on a Chinese story,
Mulan, which tells the tale of a Chinese warrior woman, got neither its
own ride nor stage show. The character appears only as a statue and a float
in the parade.
