Discuss when infinitives are used to be object complements and when to be adverbials.
Infinitives as adverbial and object complement
构成
动词不定式的基本形式是“to + 动词原形”,有时可以不带to。动词不定式没有人称和数的变化,在句中不能单独作谓语。但仍保留动词的语义特点,可以有自己的宾语和状语,如:to make new friends。
ask sb. (not) to do sth. 要求某人(不要)做某事
order sb. (not) to do sth. 命令某人(不要)做某事
tell sb. (not) to do sth. 告诉(吩咐) (不要)某人做某事
invite sb. to do sth. 邀请某人做某事
allow sb. to do sth. 允许某人做某事
encourage sb. to do sth. 鼓励某人做某事
teach sb. (not) to do sth. 教(导) (不要)某人做某事
功能
1. 作宾语补足语: v.+sb.+(not) to do sth.
动词ask, order, tell, invite, allow, encourage, teach等词的后面常接带to的动词不定式作宾语补足语。
(1) help后的宾语补足语既可以是带to的不定式(短语),
也可以是省略to的不定式(短语)。如:
Can you help the girl (to) cross the road
(2) 使役动词(make, let等)及感官动词(see, listen, hear, watch
等)后的宾语补足语,在主动语态中常用省略to的不定式
(短语)。如:
These photos make me think of my old days.
I saw my cousin move the table.
2. 作状语
不定式(短语)作状语往往表示目的、结果等。
