Day2复合名词的构成及其复数变化
【复合名词(compound noun)】在英语中很常见，它由名词、动词、副词、形容词及介词组合而成，一般包含
两个部分。

1.有主体词的复合名词，一般把主体词变成复数形式，
(1)名词+介词/介词短语
如：mother-in-law→nothers-in-law(岳母)；sistcr-in-law→sistcrs--in-law(嫂了)；cditor-in-chief-editors--in-chief
(主编)；passer--by→passers-by(过路人)；looker--on→lookers--on(旁观若)
(2)名词+形容词
如：notary public-→notaries public(公证员)；secretary general-→secretaries general(秘书长)；half brother-→half
brothers(同父异母兄弟)
2.没有主体词的复合名词，如动词短语演变成名词，一般在词尾加s.
如：gown-up→gown-ups(成年人)；close-up→close-ups(特写镜头)
3.特殊情况
(I)man和woman修饰名词，前后都要变
t如：woman doctor-→vomen doctors;woman journalist-→vomen journalists
(②)man和woman,child作为单词的后绫时，只变后面
t如：policeman→policemen;fireman-→firemen;chairwoman-→chairwomen;:grandchild-→grandchildren
