Tibetan antelopes live on the plains of Xizang, Xinjiang, and Qinghai. During the 1980s and 1990s, 1 population of Tibetan antelopes dropped by more than half due to human hunting. 2 (save) this species from extinction, the Chinese government placed it under national protection. The establishment of the Changtang National Nature Reserve 3 (effective) increased the antelope population. While Tibetan antelopes 4 (remove) from the endangered species list in 2015, the government would continue the protection programmes. After all, there still exist the 5 (threat) to the Tibetan antelope.
I went to the Changtang National Nature Reserve to observe Tibetan antelopes with my guide, Zhaxi, 6 works at the reserve. Watching the graceful animals move slowly across the grass, I was struck 7 their beauty. Reminded of the danger they are in, I realised that much should be done to protect them. As Zhaxi said, “Not only are we trying to save the animals, but also we’re trying to save 8 (we).”
In the evening we went back to camp, where I 9 (reflect) on what I had seen and heard. Only if we change our way of life can we really save the planet. I believe we are no longer a threat to wildlife by 10 (live) in harmony with nature.
