Step1. Lead in
Play a short video about different weather, such as sunny, rainy, windy, etc. Ask the ss: "What can you see in the video " Guide the ss to answer the words about various weather conditions
Justification: Preparing a proper video is the keyto get off the start.
Show some pictures of different weather and ask the ss to tell the weather.
Step 2. Word learning
Present the picture in 1a, let the ss observe the weather in the picture, and then write the words "cloudy, dry, lightning, stormy, windy" in the box below the corresponding picture.
Invite several ss to read the words, ask the T to correct the pronunciation and then read.
Step3. Listening Exercises
Let the ss see the map and weather information of 1b to briefly introduce the location and weather conditions in different regions of Australia.
Play the listening materials and the ss will connect the different areas to the corresponding weather conditions.
Justification: Make sure ss can solve the problemsone by one in a proper way.
Step 4. Dialogue exercises
Play a recording of 1c, and let the ss circle the correct answer while listening.
Please answer the questions, check the answers and explain why.
Step5. Speech learning
Show the pronunciation rules and example words of "ar, er, ir, or, ur" and let the ss listen to the recording.
Let the ss observe the pronunciation characteristics of each group of words.
Step6. Expansion and application
Put the ss in groups for 1d activity to talk about the local weather.
Invite several groups of ss to show the performance and other ss listen.
Justification: Give plenty of time for ss to practicetheir oral English.
Step7. Summary and work assignment
Review the weather vocabulary, sentence patterns and pronunciation knowledge in this lesson.
Write a short articles in English about the weather.

In this class, ss learned the topic of "weather" and four directions. About
the weather, nouns and adjectives have a specific rule to change. Especially, the words ends with "e" change into adjectives, should omit "e" and add "-ing".

Justification: Prepare different kinds of weather pictures.
Step 2: Pre-listening
Present the questions in 2a and ask ss to predict the answers based on the title and pictures.
T: Look at the title and the pictures. What do you think Anna and Bill will talk about

Teach the new vocabulary: sunbathing, build a snowman.

Step3. While-listening
Play the recording of 2a for the first time. Ss listen and fill in the blanks.
Justification: When listen to the first time, the task should be relatively simple.

Step4. Post-listening
Ss read the conversation in 2b and complete the table.
Check the answers and have ss retell the conversation based on the table.
Step5. Role-play
Play the recording of 2C again. Ss listen and pay attention to the rhythm of the sentences.
Ss practice the conversation in pairs and then role-play it in front of the class.
Step6: Group discussion
Show the activities in 2d and ask ss to tick the ones they enjoy doing the most.
Ss work in groups of 4 and discuss the activities they can do in different weather.
Justification: Group discussion is very important in class.
Step7. Summary and Homework
Summarize the key points of this lesson.
Write a short passage about your favorite weather.
