Brainstorm collocations: play the guitar, do calligraphy, go ice skating. Step 2 – Model Analysis (2b) Read the conversation in 2b: A: I heard you’re thinking about a hobby B: Yes, I paint. It’s a great way to relax and express myself. Identify key phrases: a great way to..., it helps me to..., I do it to... Step 3 – Outline Planning (3a) Guide students to plan a passage about their hobby: Introduction: Name of hobby Details: When/How started, Why you like it (use to + verb) Conclusion: How it improves your life While-writing (15 mins) Step 1 – Drafting (3b) Students write a first draft (80-100 words) about their hobby. Teacher provides sentence frames: My favorite hobby is... I started... when I was... I do it to...(e.g., relax, learn new skills, make friends) Step 2 – Peer Review (3c) Students exchange drafts and check: Correct use of infinitives for purpose Logical organization (intro → details → conclusion) Grammar and spelling Post-writing (8 mins) Select 2-3 students to share their passages.
