教学目标 通过本课的学习，学生能够： 1. 读懂英语语言演变的时间轴文本，提取并梳理不同历史阶段的核心信息，包括对应的历史事件，及对英语发展的影响等。 2. 运用提取的有关英语语言演变的知识，清晰阐述历史事件对英语发展在词汇、语法、传播范围等方面的影响。 3. 充分了解项目任务的主题、要求和实施方法，并以小组合作的形式完成英语演讲项目任务，在实践中体验“做中学英语”的理念。

【教学过程】
Step 1: 展示现代英语词汇与对应的法语词汇，提问学生是否知道英语中部分词汇源于法语，引起学生对英语词汇来源的好奇，导入语言历史主题。
Step 2: 阅读前引导学生观察文本的标题、时间轴等，并提出以下两个问题，帮助他们从整体上理解文本的结构，从而降低阅读难度。

Step 3: 学生阅读文本，完成表格内容的填写。
Time Historical events Language
500 BCE / People in Britain used Celtic languages.
43 CE The Romans took over most of Britain. They brought the Latin language to Britain.
5th century CE Anglo-Saxons from northern Europe became the new rulers of the island. Their language became the basis of Old English.
793 Vikings attacked Britain. They soon created a kingdom across a large part of England. Norse words became part of English.
1066 The Normans conquered England. They brought with them their version of French.
Middle Ages / Norman French became the language of government. Old English gradually turned into Middle English.
1400–1600 / The language we know today began to appear. Spelling and pronunciation of many words changed a lot.
1800– The Industrial Revolution English became a global language.
Step 4: 通过时间轴拼图游戏，帮助学生内化本节课所学。
引导学生回顾文本内容，将时间轴拆解为“时间节点卡片（标注关键时间节点）”“历史事件卡片（记录对应时间的历史事件）”“语言影响卡片（说明该事件对英语发展的影响）”，完成后将所有卡片打乱混合 。
把学生分成3组，一组学生抽“时间节点卡片”，一组抽“历史事件卡片”，一组抽“语言影响卡片”。
各组围绕抽到的卡片展开讨论，结合课文内容，将“时间卡——事件卡——语言影响卡” 一一对应匹配。
每组选派1名代表，借助匹配好的卡片，向全班复述在该时间节点发生的历史事件及其对英语语言发展的影响。
Step 5: 引导学生阅读项目板块的要求——小组合作，共同准备一场时长2分钟的英语演讲，并作为英语周的活动进行展示。随后教师展示供参考的项目任务清单，并帮助学生理解其中的内容。
Step 6: 学生组建小组，谈论并确定英语演讲的主题。教师可列举若干主题供学生选择，学生也可选择自己感兴趣的主题。
Step 7: 引导各小组学生根据所给出的引导性问题思考英语演讲的具体内容，并列出提纲。教师可根据学情给出例子，供学生参考。以下是有关“中国的数字化生活”的范例。

The technology makes everything faster and easier (paying, shopping, etc.).
However, it also causes problems (e.g. some people spend too much time on their phones).
Step 8: 教师向学生展示“Introduction–Body–Conclusion”的演讲基本框架，并展示相应范例，供学生参考。以下是有关“中国的数字化生活”的范例。
Hello everyone! I am David, and today I’d like to talk about digital life in China. In the past 20 years, digital technology has changed people’s lives.
First, people across China use mobile payment. 9 out of 10 people in cities use phones to pay—even street food sellers accept them! We don’t need to carry cash any more.
Second, online shopping has changed how we buy things.Nowadays, we can buy almost anything online, and it’s quick and easy. Last week, my dad bought a fridge during his lunch break — it arrived before dinner!
Third, short video apps have become very popular. More than one billion people use these apps in China, and short videos have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment.
Digital technology has made our lives more convenient. However, the technology also causes some problems. For example, some people spend too much time on their phones. We should try to use this technology wisely!
Step 9: 每组选派1名代表，进行演讲。教师向学生展示演讲评价表，学生根据评判标准为每个小组打分。演讲评价表参见教学课件。

如学校举办英语周活动，可将演讲作为英语周的活动之一，并开展班级/年级/校级演讲比赛。
