1.allow
allow v.使……成为可能；允许 原句：His latest app allows people around the world to find study partners for learning Italian.(P6）他最新开发的应用程序，能让世界各地的人找到学习意大利语的学习伙伴。
allow sb to do sth 允许某人做某事e.g.The teacher allowed him to go into the classroom.
allow doing sth 允许做某事 e.g. We do not allow talking loudly in the library.
be allowed to do sth 被允许做某事（被动结构）e.g. Passengers are not allowed to smoke.
语法填空。
①She allows her children to play (play) outside after homework.
②Our school doesn't allow eating (eat) in the classroom.
2.rather
rather 原句：I know some people thinkpostcards are rather old-fashioned,...(P7）我知道有些人觉得明信片相当过时了，……
adv.相当，表示程度，可修饰形容词、副词、动词等e.g.The movie was rather interesting.She speaks English rather well.I rather like the new design.程度副词对比表副词（组）语气强度含义与用法a bit/a little最弱有点，常用于口语，带有一点不确定感。rather中等偏强相当，隐含主观评价，强调意外、不满或惊讶。very强很；非常，最常用、最中性的强语气词。
adv.更准确地说 e.g. He worked until late last night, or rather, early this morning.

3.dream of
dream of 原句：She dreans of travelling to these places in the future! (P7)她梦想着未来去这些地方旅行!
dream of+n./v-ing梦想；希望e.g. He dreams of a world without war.She dreams of becoming a programmer.
注意：1.动词dream之后不接不定式作宾语。2. dream about后可接梦境的内容。e.g. Last night, I dreamed about my old school friends.3.与never连用，表示从未想过。e.g. The man never dreamed of winning the prize
同义句转换／单句写作。
①My little sister wants to be a yoga teacher when she grows up.
→My little sister dreams of being a yoga teacher when she grows up.
②昨晚，汤姆梦见了他在乡下的祖父母。
Last night, Tom dreamt/dreamed about his grandparents in the countryside.
