more widely available to the public.
Peking Opera tells stories from Chinese
history, mythology, and literature and is a
way to preserve and pass on traditional Chinese culture.

The Sheng, played by a male actor, is the male lead and typically portrays characters such as scholars, generals, and emperors.

The Dan, played by a female actor, is the female lead and usually plays characters such as princesses, fairies, and heroic women.

The Jing, played by either a male or female actor, is the hero or villain and is known for their acrobatic and martial arts skills.

The Chou, played by a male actor, is the clown or comic relief and provides comedic relief during serious scenes.
