读后续写复习课
关注主题和主要矛盾
Some students may have these difficulties in writing:
1. I don’t know what I should focus on during reading.
2. I understand the story but I don’t know what I should write (to solve the problem/to give an ending...)
In this class, let’s solve these together.
The meaning of 读后续写?
I think it is about:
1. how we analyse the story and find out the major problem (from our normal life)
2. what we should do to solve the problem (in a postive way)
3. how we express our ideas in a proper way
...
What should we read for within 10 minutes
1. Main characters (and their relationship)
2. Theme
3. What happened (problem, difficulties...)
4. Why happened (reason to solution)
5. Who/What can help
When my friend Avery and I tried out for Alice in Wonderland, however, things went the opposite way.
“I really hope I get picked to be Alice,” said Avery.
“You’d make a great Alice!” I said. “I don’t care what part I get as long as I’m in it.”
“So you’d be happy to have a small part like the Dormouse ” she asked.
“Exactly!” I said. “Or even the Cheshire Cat would be good.”
A few days later, Avery and I raced over to the theater office, where the director had posted the cast list.
“Wow!” said Avery. “You got the part of Alice and I got the part of the March Hare.”
“That can’t be right,” I said. “There must be some mistake!”
But I really and truly was given the part of Alice. I’m pretty sure the reason why I’d done well is that I hadn’t been nervous at all during the audition. And the reason why I hadn’t been nervous is that it hadn’t even occurred to me that I could get the major role.
“Do you want to come over after school and we can practice our lines ” I asked.
“You mean practicing your lines ” Avery said, not even looking at me. “No, thanks. I’m pretty busy this week.”
“OK,” I said. “How about some day next week ”
“Sorry,” she mumbled. “I’m pretty sure I’m busy forever.”
That night at dinner, after my parents congratulated me on getting the lead role, they asked how I felt about it.
“Well, I’m confused,” I said. “Avery was so upset that I was picked to be Alice, she pretty much threw away our friendship.”
“Hmm,” said my dad. “Arizona, don’t you think this might be an opportunity for you to be an extra good friend ”
“Dad’s right,” said my mom. “Sometimes when our friends do well, we feel envious and don’t know how to act. Try giving her a little time and understanding. I bet she’ll come around before too long.”
Over the next week, I did my best to give Avery some space.

Then at rehearsal one day, I approached her. “How talented you are! The way you say your lines and do that thing with your ears is so funny and awesome.” I smiled. (Solution)Avery’s eyes shone with joy (高兴得双眸发亮), “Thanks. The March Hare doesn’t have that many lines. But I’m figuring out all the ways that my character can express himself.” I then shared my struggle with my character and asked for her help. She replied with a smile. “I think I might be free on Thursday.”(could be better )
Our play ended up going great. We had so much fun, and the audience loved the show. Even though things were rough for a while with Avery and me, we are better than ever now! She even apologized for the way she’d been acting at first. Since then, I have learned people often have a tough time dealing with their feelings of envy and disappointment (妒忌和失望)(bad things). This might be the perfect time for us to be extra good. Give our friend a little time and understanding, and he or she might come around (改变观点) before long.(Theme)
