在中国也存在“冠夫姓”的情况，从先秦时代开始，“冠夫姓”就存在于社会当中，只不过当时姓和氏是分开的。随着新中国的成立，国家强调男女平等，女子不再“冠夫姓”， 中国大陆的女子有了自己的姓名权。
