Make the mighty ocean
And the pleasant land.
Little deeds of kindness,
Little words of love,
Help make earth happy
Like the heaven above.
Kind hearts are the gardens
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots,
Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruits.
Take care of your garden,
And keep out the weeds,
Fill it with sunshine,
Kind words, and kind deeds.
If I can stop one heart from breaking
by Emily Dickinson
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
I know you are feeling sad

Helping others helps us all
There are lots of different ways we can help others. We can do big things like organizing or taking part in a fun run. Or we can just take a few moments to say some kind words to friends when they’re upset.
Many people decide to volunteer for a charity to help others. There are so many different charities—so you can choose one that suits you. How about making and serving food in a soup kitchen Or, if you’re interested in local history, you could show people around your local museum. Some people are really good listeners, like these young people. They spend time talking with older people at care homes.
Those happy faces say it all. Volunteering is about helping others, but did you know that it has a positive effect on the volunteer too According to lots of different studies, volunteering is actually good for you. Firstly, volunteering makes you happy! In fact, the more you volunteer, the happier you are! Secondly, volunteering helps you feel less stressed. Thirdly, it’s a great way to learn new skills and make new friends.
Volunteering isn’t just good for individuals. It’s good for our community too. When we connect with and help others, it reminds us that we are part of a wider community. One kind action quickly leads to another and we all start to look out for each other more. All of this helps to make our community a happier and nicer place—for us all.
Helping others is a powerful tool that we can use to improve all of our lives as well as our community.
