The past continuous VS the simple past
一般过去时（the simple past）:
表示过去发生过的动作，结构为：主语 + 动词过去式。
强调“动作已完成”，关注“做了某事”的结果。

过去进行时 （the past continuous）:
表示过去某时正在进行的动作，结构为：主语 + was/were + 现在分词。
强调“动作的过程”，不关注是否完成。
