Which Chinese astronaut would you like to write about, and what things can you mention in the article
I’d like to write about Nie Haisheng. I could mention
how he became an astronaut, the missions that he went on, his other achievements, and so on.
Warm- up
Wang Yao first organized her ideas. She used the questions below to plan her writing.
Pre-writing

What was his / her childhood like How did he / she become an astronaut early life
What personal qualities helped him / her become successful Are there any quotes that show these qualities personal qualities
Which space missions did he / she take part in missions
What were his / her main achievements Did he / she receive any honours or titles If yes, which one(s) achievements
Wang Yao searched for these types of information and made a table. Can you colour-code the different types of information

Pre-writing
Read Wang Yao’s article and the different types of information from her notes.
Writing tip 1:
Use a clear structure (e.g. early life, personal qualities, key missions, achievements / honours).
Pre-writing
Look at Wang Yao’s notes, and then compare them with the article. Which information did she not use Why do you think she left this part out
Wang Yao didn’t mention that Nie Haisheng loved reading when he was little.
I think she left this out because it wasn’t as important as the other information.
Writing tip 2:
You don’t need to include all the information you collected. Try to focus on the most important and interesting information.

Write your article. Try to give it an eye-catching title. Find a photo of the astronaut you are writing about and add it to the article.
