If you are planning on travelling, there are a few simple rules about how to make life easier both before and after your journey.
First of all, always check and double-check departure (出发) time. It is surprising how few people really do this carefully. Once I arrived at the airport a few minutes after ten. My secretary had got the ticket for me and I thought she had said that the plane would leave at 10:50. Surprisingly, the person at the departure desk told me that my flight was closed. Therefore, I had to wait three hours for the next one and missed an important meeting.
The second rule is to remember that even in this age of credit cards, it is still important to have some local money in cash (现金). Once I arrived at a place at midnight and the bank at the airport was closed. The only way to get to my hotel was by taxi but because I had no dollars, I offered to pay in pounds instead. “Listen! I only take real money!” the driver said angrily. You can imagine how terrible I felt at that moment.
The third and the last rule is to find out as much as you can about the weather at your destination before you leave. I feel sorry for some of my workmates who travelled in heavy suits and raincoats in May, when it is still fairly cool in London or Manchester, to places like Athens, Rome or Madrid, where it is already beginning to get quite warm during the day.
4. When did the author arrive at the airport probably
A. At 9:55. B. At 10:00. C. At 10:05. D. At 10:50.

C. gave the driver some fake (假的) money D. tried to pay by credit card

A. warm and dry B. cold and dry
C. hot and wet D. cool and rainy
7. What is the text mainly about
A. How to make life easier. B. How to be well prepared for a trip.
C. How to enjoy ourselves on a trip. D. How to schedule our trip.

In the city I live in, we have a small local national park full of trees. I like that place very much, although I do wish it was bigger.
One day, I was walking around in the park along a path (小路) when I saw a beautiful squirrel (松鼠) lying in the middle of the path. I stopped and found that there was something wrong with one of its legs.
Just at that time, a man with two little kids was behind me. They were my neighbors. They were going up the same path. I said hello to them. Then I stopped them. “Please wait. Do you really want to catch it and put it into the birdcage ” My neighbor said, “Yes. I will catch it and take it home.” I said angrily, “Animals are our friends and this is the last place in our city that the squirrel can live in. We must protect them. If we are kind to this tiny animal then we can start to be kind to bigger ones.” My neighbor smiled and said, “You misunderstood me. I will take it home and cure (治疗) it and when it is well, I will take it back to the park and set it free. Do you come along with me ” After hearing his words, I became happy. On a cold winter day, Li Ming found an injured puppy on his way home from school. The puppy was curled (蜷缩) up beside a snow pile, shaking, with its hind leg seemingly hurt and its tiny body shaking from the cold. Li Ming bent down and gently touched the puppy’s head, noticing the fear and helplessness in its eyes. He felt a burst of sadness and knew he couldn’t leave the little creature there. Immediately, he took off his scarf (围巾), carefully covered the puppy, and held it in his arms.
“Don’t be afraid, I’ll help you,” Li Ming said softly, trying to comfort the shaking puppy. He decided to take the puppy home, even though he knew his parents might not agree to keep a pet. As he walked, he thought about how to convince his parents. “Maybe if I show them how much I care, they’ll understand,” he said to himself.
When he arrived home, Li Ming quietly carried the puppy to his room. He dried its body with a towel (毛巾), making sure to be extra gentle around the injured leg. Then, he found some old clothes and made a plain bed for the puppy in the corner of his room. The puppy seemed to relax a little, its shaking dying. Li Ming also gave it some water and a small piece of bread, which the puppy ate eagerly, wagging its tail (摇尾巴) weakly.
That night, Li Ming lay in bed, staring at the ceiling (天花板), filled with worry. He didn’t know how serious the puppy’s injury was or how his parents would react. He imagined different situations — some where his parents criticized him, others where they allowed him to keep the puppy. But no matter what, he knew he couldn’t give up this poor little life. As he dropped off to sleep, he dreamed of the puppy running happily in a sunny field, its tail wagging joyfully.
Para 1. The next morning, Li Ming woke up to find the puppy missing from its bed.

Para 2. A few days later, the puppy’s condition gradually improved.
