Activity 1: Chant and identify
Chant together. Find the words with /sk/ /sm/ /sp/ /st/ and identify them. You can also write more lines for the chant.

When listening to the radio, please focus on four parts: when the show will be on, who the guest is, what the main content is and what the listeners may get.
Pay attention to the rhetorical questions in the radio. Rhetorical questions are asked without expecting answers. Using them can effectively help listeners understand your main ideas.
Activity 4: Predict and listen
Read the diagram and predict what questions the host may ask in the interview. Then listen to the interview of Yan Jing and check your prediction.
If you are going to interview Yan Jing, what questions would you like to ask him The diagram in Part 3 may give you some ideas.

Activity 6: Listen and list
Listen to the interview for the third time. Then list the questions asked by the host. Decide which are open questions and which are follow-up ones.
Open questions start with wh-words. Follow-up questions are always asked after an answer.

Brainstorm what you need to know about careers and create a thinking map. You can use the thinking map below to help you.

List the questions you want to ask. You need to prepare at least 2 open questions and 1 follow-up question.

Interview each other and act out a conversation about careers. You can use the information in Communication bank.

Score other groups with the evaluation form and choose the best partners.
Look at the evaluation form on your learning sheet and give your classmates a score. Let’s find who are the “best partners”.
1. Interview your classmates about their dream jobs with open questions and follow-up questions. Then write an 80-word article about your dream job and its responsibilities. (Required)
2. Prepare a speech about a great job in your mind and why you think it’s worth it. Present it next class to honour the great workers. (Optional)
