The Fishman and the Genie
Scene one [At the seashore.]
Narrator: A fisherman saw something
surprising in his net.
Fisherman: What’s this shiny thing Oh, it’s a
bottle! I wonder what’s inside.
Narrator: The fisherman opened the bottle.
A great cloud of smoke came out,
and it became a genie…

Once upon a time, a hippo（河马）lived by a river next to a big tree.
One day, a bird came and built a home in the tree. The songs of the bird were very beautiful. The hippo envied（羡慕）the bird a lot. Although the bird often told him that he was so big and strong, he still wanted to sing like the bird.

Aesop’s Fables（《伊索寓言》） is one of the most popular books with people of all ages. The stories are not only interesting, but also can change our thoughts on animals in real life. Are the animals’ actions（行为） in the book the same as those in real life
Scientist Jo Wimpenny’s book Aesop’s Animals will give us the answer. The book tells us the science behind those old stories.
Jo got the idea of writing this book from a 2009 study. At that time, two scientists were testing if the crows（乌鸦）in real life could use tools. Jo took an interest in it and went deep into it.
Jo did lots of studies and shared her interesting findings in the book Aesop’s Animals. In each part of the book, she tells a different fable and shares some interesting facts about animals’ actions. Some facts may be different from our
opinions （ 观点）on the animal kingdom. For example, the wolves in Aesop’s Fables are always bad and live alone. But in real life, wolves live in family groups. They are smart animals and work with their family to find food.
