They are sense verbs.
感官动词是一种较为常见的系动词。
Read the sentences from the reading passage and summarise the grammar rules.

be动词是我们最熟悉、最常用的系动词。
描述人或事物的状态发生某种变化的系动词。
表示感觉或知觉的系动词。
表示人或事物的状态保持一致、没有发生变化的系动词
英语动词中,有的动词后面要接名词或代词等作宾语,有的可以单独作谓语。
我们把后面接主语补充成分的动词称为系动词。
系动词本身意义不完整,它只有与其后的表语一起构成系表结构才能表达完整的意义。
系动词
1. 最基本的系动词就是be。
e.g. My sister is a good swimmer.
Jane is very quiet.
Who is she
He isn’t at home now.
To know everything is to know nothing.
系动词be后面可以跟各种各样的表语,如名词(短语)、形容词、代词、介词短语、不定式等。
e.g. This bed feels hard.
这张床摸起来硬邦邦的。
The cbiscuits taste sweet.
饼干吃起来甜甜的。
You look tired.
你看上去累了。
The milk smells sour.
牛奶闻起来有股馊味儿。
The idea sounds good.
这主意听起来不错。
系动词 feel, taste, look, smell, sound 相当于汉语中的“摸起来”“尝起来”“看上去”
“闻起来”和“听起来”。
2. 除be以外,很多感官动词,如feel,taste,look等,也可以当系动词使用。
感官司动词后多跟形容词作表语。
3. 除be和感官动词以外,go,get,become,remain等动词也可以作为系动词。
e.g. The meat goes bad. 肉变质了。
It was getting very dark.
天越来越黑了。
Leaves become yellow in autumn.
叶子在秋天会变黄。
He becomes excited before the match.
他在比赛前变得很兴奋。
He turned scientist. 他变成科学家了。
变化系动词后多跟形容词或名词作表语。
go,get,become用于描述人或事物的状态发生某种变化。
e.g. Her room remains clean and tidy.
她的房间一直保持干净整洁的状态。
He remains calm in trouble.
在遇到麻烦时,他仍保持冷静。
Please keep quiet in the library.
在图书馆请保持安静。
Ann stayed in bed the whole morning.
Ann整个早上都呆在床上。
在表示人或事物的状态保持一致、没有发生变化时,可使用remain,keep,stay。
表示保持某种状态的系动词后,可跟形容词、副词、名词、介词短语等作表语。
4. 系动词seem(似乎、好像),appear(似乎、显得)后可跟形容词、名词等作表语。
e.g. Jane seems sick today.
Jane今天好像生病了。
That seems a good idea.
那似乎是个好主意。
He appeared calm.
他显得很冷静。
要注意,除 be 以外的系动词,其他否定形式和疑问形式的构成要借助助动词do。
e.g. The dishes do not smell very nice.
这些菜肴闻起来不是很好。

他看起来焦虑吗?
The cake does not taste very good.
这个蛋糕不是很好吃。
Does she get angry
她生气了吗?
Life does not remain the same.
生活不是一成不变的。
有些动词既可作系动词,又可作实义动词,这时要根据其意思以及后面所接词的词性和词义作出判断。
He is looking at the picture.
(实义动词,本句用现在进行时,表示“看”。)
It looks beautiful.
(系动词,后接形容词作表语,表示“看起来”。)
系动词通常不用于被动语态。
部分表示变化的系动词可用于进行时态。
I feel someone touch my arm.
(实义动词,后接名词作宾语。)
I feel comfortable in my room.
(系动词,后接形容词作表语,表示“感觉”。)
The soft drinking tastes quite sour.
(系动词,后接形容词作表语。)
The man is tasting the fish carefully.
(实义动词,本句用现在进行时,is tasting后接名词宾语和副词状语。)
We will grow old. 我们会变老。
(系动词,后接形容词作表语,表示“变”。)
It is not easy to grow crops. 种植作物不容易。

How to cook scrambled eggs with tomatoes
1 Cut two tomatoes into slices.
2 Beat two eggs. Add a little salt.
3 Put some oil in a hot pan. Add the egg mixture. Stir it until it remains / becomes golden yellow.
Read the notes and circle the correct words.
4 Put the eggs onto a plate. Add more oil to the pan. Then add the tomatoes. They can sound / taste very loud.
5 Put the eggs back in the pan and mix them with the tomatoes, then add some salt. Turn off the heat when the eggs feel / taste firm but not hard.
Comments from Mum: The dish looks / becomes good, and remains / tastes even better.
The linking verbs show us the colour, the sound, the feel, the look, the smell and the taste of the food.

beat v. 搅拌,搅打
e.g. *Beat the eggs, then add the milk.

beat vt. (在比赛或竞争中)赢,打败(某人),宾语常常是比赛或竞争的对手,即人或参赛队。

win v. 赢;获胜
既可用作不及物动词,也可用作及物动词。用作及物动词时,宾语常常是比赛、比赛的名次或奖品等。

e.g. *They must work until 5:00 p.m.

*We will wait until your dad gets home.

引导时间状语从句,用于肯定句时,主句动作通常为延续性动词,指主句的动作一直持续到until后的动作发生为止。
工作一直持续到下午5点

e.g. *We can’t go out until class is over.
直到下课,我们才可以出去。
*Don’t get off the bus until it stops.
车停稳以后,才能下车。
主句动作通常为短暂性动词,指主句的动作一直到until后的动作发生时才发生。
