第一课时Starting out 教学设计
一、单元主题
本单元主题：幸福的秘诀。
主题范畴：该主题属于“人与自我”和“人与社会”，涉及“身心健康”“和谐家庭与社区生活”“志愿服务与公共服务”。
二、单元教学目标
学习本单元后，学生能够设计一页书页，介绍获得幸福的方法：
1、运用本单元所学词汇及表达方式谈论幸福；
2、运用一般过去时描述幸福时刻；
3、分享生活中幸福的意义。
三、第一课时教学设计
1.第一课时教学目标
通过本课时学习，学生能够：
（1）初步感知幸福的含义，对单元主题进行思考；
（2）了解爱是获取幸福的关键，理解精神层面上幸福的重要意义；
（3）运用本课时的核心词汇谈论对幸福的认识和理解。
2.核心词汇
happiness, happy, smile, finding happiness,laugh at, again and again,cry over等。

初步感知幸福的含义，对单元主题进行思考。 Warming up 学生观察章首页图片，思考并回答问题：What is the girl doing How do you think she feels Why Lead in 让学生头脑风暴一个问题：What brings people happiness 引导学生用because来解释原因。 根据学生的回答情况，观察其能否参与互动和交流，能否主动分享与该主题相关的已有知识。
了解爱是获取幸福的关键，理解精神层面上幸福的重要意义。 Starting out 任务一 学生欣赏教材活动1的小诗，回答问题：What is the poem about What’s special about the poem （完成教材活动1） 根据小诗内容，让学生一人说一句话，并用because回答原因。 任务二 学生观察图片，回答问题：What stories do you know about happiness 观看视频，回答问题：Do you agree with the old man’s words Why or why not What can you learn from them （完成教材活动2） 让学生都一个故事：塞翁失马，回答问题：What can you learn from the story 根据学生描述的情况，评价其对幸福的认知。 。
运用本课时的核心词汇谈论对幸福的认识和理解。 自我评价 学生讨论并分享自己的观点：What makes you happy in your life 根据学生的分享，评价其对本课时主题意义的理解。

Yes. Because a joke isn’t funny if we hear it many times, so we shouldn’t keep being sad about the same problem either.
We should stop focusing on our problems and move on to find happiness.
Starting out
Once upon a time, there was an old man near the border. He had a horse. One day, the horse ran away. Neighbors said it was a bad thing, but the old man thought otherwise.
Later, the horse came back with wild horses. Neighbors congratulated, yet the old man wasn’t sure it was a good thing.
Then, his son rode a wild horse, fell off and broke his leg. People felt sad, but the old man remained calm.
After a while, a war broke out. Most young men in the village were drafted to fight in the war and died. But because the old man's son had a broken leg, he couldn't go to war and was saved.
What can you learn from the story
A positive attitude is a kind of happiness. When we see things positively, we are more likely to focus on the good and the opportunities.
