I'd like to share my favourite free-time activity with you – it's doing Chinese calligraphy.
I started learning calligraphy when I was about eight years old. My grandmother taught me how to hold the brush and write my first characters. She is very skilled at it.
Now, I practice it almost every weekend at home. I spread out my paper, prepare the ink, and write for an hour or two. It's a quiet and special time for me.
I enjoy it so much because it is very relaxing. When I focus on each stroke, I forget about my school stress and feel peaceful.Also, it lets me connect with traditional Chinese culture. Every character has a long history. I feel proud when I write beautiful characters and can share this art with others, even with friends from other countries like you!
My happiest moment is when I write the character "福" (which means 'good fortune') during Chinese New Year and give it to my family. Their smiles make me very happy.
I think it's a wonderful activity that brings peace and beauty. Maybe you can try writing your name with a brush someday!
