Hi Jason!
My favourite free-time activity is calligraphy—you know, writing Chinese characters with a brush and ink.
I started this activity when I was 10. Back then, my mom taught me how to hold the brush properly, and I practiced simple characters like “sun” and “moon” first.
I like to do it because it’s super relaxing. After a long day of study, sitting at my desk and focusing on the brush strokes lets me forget all my tiredness. I find it fun to watch the ink spread softly on the paper, turning into neat, beautiful characters. It makes me really happy when my teacher puts my works up on the classroom wall—so proud!
Also, I enjoy chatting with my classmates who love calligraphy too when we practice in the school art room. It’s not just a hobby; it teaches me patience, too!
