一、情态动词should
1. 基本语法特征
与动词原形连用，无人称和数的变化；否定形式在其后加 not；变一般疑问句时should前移至主语之前。如：Should I help him with the problem 我应该帮助他解决这个问题吗？

2. 语义及基本用法
(1) 表示委婉地提出意见或建议，意为“应该；应当”。如：You should study even harder. 你应当更加努力地学习。
(2) 表示义务、责任，意为“应该；应当”。如：You should obey the school rule. 你们应该遵守校规。

(3) 表示命令或要求，语气比较强烈。如：You shouldn’t drive after drinking. 你不应该酒后开车。
(4) 表示预测或可能性。如：They should arrive before dark. 他们天黑之前应该能赶到。

1. 核心概念
反身代词是英语中表达“……自己；本身”含义的一类代词，是在第一人称、第二人称形容词性物主代词或第三人称人称代词宾格形式的词尾加-self或 -selves组成。

(1) 作动词或介词的宾语
Be careful when you’re using the knife! Don’t cut yourself. 使用刀具时要小心，不要割伤自己。
In teaching others, we teach ourselves. 教人者，己已学。

(2) 作主语或宾语的同位语
I cooked the dinner myself. 我自己做的晚饭。
You had better ask the dentist herself. 你最好问牙医本人。
注：反身代词用作主语或宾语的同位语时， 一般用于强调，常译为“本人；亲自”。常见的后接反身代词作宾语的动词或动词短语有cut, hurt, protect, teach, enjoy, help, take care of, look after等。
