一、形容词和副词的比较等级
1. 原级的用法
(1) as ... as 意为“与……一样……”，其否定形式为“not so/as ... as”，意为“与……不一样……”
This mountain is as tall as that one far away. 这座山和远处的那座山一样高。
The local lake is not as clean as Qinghai Lake. 当地的湖泊不如青海湖干净。

(2) “A+谓语动词+倍数+as+原级+as B”表示“A是B的……倍……”
Our school is twice as large as theirs. 我们学校是他们学校的两倍大。

2. 比较级的用法
(1) “A+谓语动词+比较级+than B”表示“A 比 B 更……”
Summer is hotter than spring. 夏天比春天热。
Math is more difficult than English for me. 对我来说数学比英语难。

(2) “the+ 比较级 ... the+比较级 ...”表示“越……越……”
The more careful you are, the fewer mistakes you will make. 你越细心，犯的错就会越少。

(3) “比较级+and+比较级” 或 “more and more+形容词 / 副词原级” 意为 “越来越……”，其后均不可接than。
The temperature gets lower and lower when we reach the mountain top. 当我们到达山顶时，温度变得越来越低。
People live more and more happily now. 现在人们生活得越来越快乐了。

(4) “疑问词+谓语动词+比较级，A or B ” 表示 “A和B，哪个更……？”。
Which is higher, Mount Fuji or Mount Tai 富士山和泰山哪个更高？
Who sings better, Lucy or Amy 谁唱得更好，露西还是艾米？

(5) 当表示一方超过另一方的程度时，可以用much, a litle, even, still, a lot等修饰，注意不能用very, so, too等修饰。
He is much more serious than his brother. 他比他弟弟稳重多了。
(6) 当比较级后有“of the two ... ”之类的短语时，比较级前要加定冠词the。
Bob is the faster of the two runners. 鲍勃是两个赛跑者中跑得更快的。

3. 最高级的用法
(1) “主语+谓语动词+the+最高级+in/of ... (比较范围)”表示“……在某范围内最……”
The Nile is the longest river in the world. 尼罗河是世界上最长的河流。
This flower is the most beautiful of all the plants. 这朵花是所有植物中最美丽的。

(2) “主语+谓语动词+one of+the+最高级+可数名词复数”表示“……是最……的……之一”

(3) “主语+谓语动词+the+序数词(除了first)+ 最高级+可数名词单数/不可数名词+范围”表示“……是……中第几最……的……”

The Sahara Desert is the second largest desert on the earth. 撒哈拉沙漠是地球上第二大沙漠。

4. 比较级表达最高级的用法
“比较级+than+any other+名词单数”表示“比其他任何……都……”
Mount Qomolangma is higher than any other mountain in Asia. 珠穆朗玛峰比亚洲任何一座山都高。
Tom runs faster than any other student in his class. 汤姆比他班上任何一个学生都跑得快。

1000以上的基数词的表示法：先从右至左数，每三位数加一个逗号(即以此把数目分为若干段)。第一个逗号前的数的单位为 thousand (千)，第二个逗号前的数的单位为million (百万)，第三个逗号前的数的单位为 billion (十亿)。
9,883 → nine thousand, eight hundred and eighty-three
65,359 → sixty-five thousand, three hundred and fifty-nine
60,263,150 → sixty million, two hundred and sixty-three thousand, one hundred and fifty

【注意】①英语中没有“万”这个单位，要表示“万”须借助 thousand，如“一万”用“十个千”表示 (ten thousand)，“十万”用“百个千”表示 (one hundred thousand)。
②hundred 后通常加连词and。若读数中百位数为0，则在thousand 后加and。
