Last summer, my friend Dan and I went to the town of Bu ol in Spain to take part in La Tomatina. We had a/an ▲ tomato fight there!
The celebrations started a week before the main event. There were food stalls, music, parades (游行) and other activities. But we only joined in the day of the fight.
It was Wednesday, August 28. We arrived in the town at 9 a.m. in old clothes. Everyone was excitedly waiting for the tomato fight to begin. Some brave people tried to climb a greasy pole If someone could get the ham at the top, the fight would start early. The rest of us watched and sang songs to encourage them. But the pole was so slippery (滑溜溜的) that no one could get more than halfway up.
Finally, the fight started at 11 a.m. Dan and I put on our goggles (护目镜) to protect our eyes. A few huge trucks slowly drove down the streets. People inside the trucks threw tomatoes out toward the crowd. Then, the trucks turned over their boxes and poured all the tomatoes onto the street. We picked them up and threw them here and there.
The next hour was a total mess. Tomatoes were everywhere! They were in the air, in our hair, all around our feet and down our clothes...
The fight went on for an hour. After that, the local workers hosed (用水管冲洗) us down to wash off most of the tomatoes. Dan and I kept laughing and talking about the fight. It was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had in my life!

We went on a trip to a farm this Friday. It was tiring but great fun. In the morning a farmer showed us around the farm. There were large tents with tomatoes carrots and many other fruits and vegetables. The farmer told us about how these fruits and vegetables go from the fields to our tables. I was very interested because I usually only see them in the supermarket. Then we go straight to work. First we picked some strawberries. The work seemed easy but it took time to get it right. Slowly we filled many baskets. In the afternoon the farmer taught us how to cut the leaves from tomato plants. This helps them to grow more fruit. It was tiring but I enjoyed working with my hands. One thing I learned was that farming isn’t easy. It made me think of the saying “every grand comes from hard work”.

根据文章第三段“Named after their long pectoral (胸部的) fins, which look like oars”可知,桨鱼因其胸鳍像桨而得名。故选D。
故选A。

根据第一段“The island...its success on the football field has been huge. Since 2004, the Panyee Football Club has won the Thai Youth Football Championships seven times.”
