Emma: I do! Why are so many countries researching the deep sea
Mr Jones: Well, curiosity is one reason. We don’t know enough about the ocean
floor.
Fu Xing: I remember that in 2020, China’s Fendouzhe dived deeper into the
Mariana Trench than many other vessels in the world and filmed it. But
I didn’t see any deep-sea animals. What are they like

are blind, but they can “see” as well as others. Some even create
their own light!
