The word the is a definite article in English. It is used to identify or specify a certain person or thing.
Can you pronounce “the” in a sentence correctly
a.定冠词在辅音音素前发/ /，在元音音素前发/ i/，表示强调时发/ i:/。判断一个单词是以元音开头还是以辅音开头，应根据音标而不是元音字母 a, e, i, o, u。
b. 同时，不定冠词a和an的发音也遵循这条规则，即a用在以辅音音素开头的单词前，读作/ /，只有强调时才读作/e /。 an用在以元音音素开头的单词前，一般读作/ n/。

Let’s sum up the rules!
1. We often use a or an before a singular countable noun when we mention it for the first time.
2. We use the before the noun when we mention it again.
3. We can use the to refer to specific people or things.
4. After the verb play, we use the before the names of musical instruments, but we DO NOT use the before the names of sports.
5. We use the with the superlatives and ordinal numbers.
