Reading
You may want to remember these strange laws next time you’ re travelling to avoid fines!
Don’t eat on church steps in Italy.
Be careful where you enjoy a relaxing lunch or drink in Italy. It’s an offense in Florence to eat or drink on church steps or within a church yard. The same law applies to eating near public buildings or institutions. Find other places to avoid the fine.
Watch your camera in Kazakhstan.
Want to take a picture of your family in the airport before you board the plane In Kazakhstan, it’s against the law. Photographing in and around airports is not allowed, and taking pictures of military and official buildings is not allowed either.
Feed the pigeons and you’ ll break the law in San Francisco.
You’re not allowed to feed pigeons on the streets of San Francisco. The city doesn’t like the birds because they spread diseases and damage properties. If you’ re seen giving food to San Francisco’s pigeons, you could be punished with a fine.
Pack a breathalyzer in France.
In France, drivers must carry a small breathalyzer in their vehicle. If you’ re caught without one in your car, you may be fined. So next time you are in France, don’t forget to have a breathalyzer in the car with you.
Read the passage and answer the questions.
A Can we eat lunch in front of a museum in Florence Why
B Can a camera be used in and around airports in Kazakhstan
C Why is feeding pigeons not allowed in San Francisco
D Why do you think drivers without a breathalyzer in the car may be fined in France

I can talk about public rules: There’s a sign on the wall. It says, “No cameras or mobile phones!” I’ve seen that one too. It reminds us to be quiet.
I know some basic traffic rules: As a pedestrian, you should walk on the zebra crossings when crossing the street. Always wear a helmet when you ride an e-bike.
I understand the importance of personal space: Listening to others’ boundaries shows respect and makes them feel they can trust you. Boundaries teach you to notice when someone might be dangerous.
I can use the passive voice to describe spoken and unspoken rules: Spoken rules are said or written somewhere. In many other countries, closeness is considered normal.
Improvement needed:
Self-check
Fun Time
Safety rules
When you step out of your house
Whether on your bike or as you walk
Keеp your eyes open and ears too
That’s the first thing you must do
Stay absolutely alert all through
That is the golden safety rule
