Early this spring, hundreds of students from Beijing Chenjinglun High School went to Huangshan in Anhui. It wasn’t a usual trip. When enjoying their trip, they also needed to learn about geography there.
Study tours are popular in Chinese schools. By taking a trip or tour, students can learn things not taught in the classroom, and get to know more about history and nature (自然).
Zhang Jiaqi, a 16-year-old girl from Dalian, had a study tour to a lavender (薰衣草) garden. There she enjoyed the beautiful flowers, and also learned about the medicinal value (药用价值) of lavender like helping people sleep. “I want to be a girl like the lavender, who is both beautiful and helpful, ” Zhang said.
Tan Wenjing and her classmates from Guangxi got to touch history by visiting the Hechi Revolutionary Memorial Hall.
