Whаt should we dо
Sоmеthing unexpected came up and my performing group needs to cancel. What should we do You might not need to cancel. We encourage performers to think creatively about alternate ways to perform, such as: changing a group work to a solo piece, changing the musical instruments (e. g. replacing a singer with a piano or violin soloist), asking a replacement performer to join, performing part of the work instead of a full work, and/or replacing the originally planned work with a different one that your group has performed successfully in the past.
If none of these options work and your group must cancel, please contact Marin Orlosky, Arts Fest Coordinator, as soon as possible.
With any confusions about the festival, reach out to the Harvard Arts Festival Producer Alicia Anstead or Arts Fest Coordinator Marin Orlosky.

For decades, a luxury trip had been on my father’s wish list. So, when I got the chance to Africa for a trip, there was no question who my partner would be.
After touching down on the airstrip, we were just two minutes from the airport when many zebras rushed in front of our car. During the 45-minute drive to the hotel, we saw antelopes and giraffes eating grass on the plain.
Over the next five days, we did two half-day drives and one full-day drive with our guide. It was as if he had a map of where every single animal would be at just the right time. We were lucky enough to see six cheetahs in one day as well as several lions looking for shade under trees. We admired the elephants looking after their weeks-old babies and laughed at the awkward run of the giraffes.
A fear of heights kept my father from a sunrise hot-air balloon ride over the plains. But I shared stories of the ponds full of hippos and videos of the views during a post-ballooning breakfast. While on an afternoon walking with Attas, a naturalist, we examined animal waste and bones up close and were surprised at how much farther away the animals stayed when you were on foot rather than driving.
When we were not looking at animals, the hotel was an excellent place to relax. Each night, as the sun started to set over the trees, my dad and I talked about our favorite moments from that day’s drive and shared the best photos and videos on our phones.
On our last night, the hotel created a memorable bush dinner for us. We had the big dinner as the sky turned from orange to red to black. My dad told me it was the best vacation he had ever been on, and the most special part was that we were able to do it together.
4. What did the author and her father see during their drive to the hotel
A. Lions were hunting for food.
B. Elephants were bathing in a river.
C. Zebras were racing with their car.
D. Antelopes were feeding themselves on the plain.
5 What do we learn about the guide
A. He knew the local animals well. B. He brought the author luck.
C. He had a good map. D. He was good at driving.
6. Why did the author’s father fail to take the hot-air balloon
A. He had no time to do that. B. He was afraid of staying high.
C. He preferred stories and videos. D. He didn’t like the hot-air balloon.
7 What did the father think was the most valuable travel experience
A. The close stay with animals. B. The beautiful view at sunset.
C. The travel time with the author. D. The unforgettable bush dinner.

Who do you think is the next big, rising star in the world of music Well, AI seems to be causing quite a stir!
Yes, that’s right! Artificial Intelligence (AI) — computer software that allows machines to think and learn in a human way — is writing music, and the results are amazing!
AI does this by analyzing huge amounts of musical data, using existing samples, styles and types and can learn to create something completely new. There are lots of different AI Music software out there, including Boomy, Beatoven. ai and AIVA.
AI music has been spreading online with users creating songs that contain cloned voices of artists such as Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Kendrick Lamar.
An online creator named “ghostwriter” made the song Heart on My Sleeve, featuring the cloned voices of singers Drake and the Weeknd without their permission. It managed to get 15 million TikTok views, before Universal Music Group successfully asked for it to be taken down.
Is AI music legal There are still no clear laws surrounding the creation of AI music. Whether AI music can be legally protected is still under debate. However, some musicians are happy to embrace AI and want to use it to improve their music.
DJ David Guetta told the BBC that he is “sure the future of music is in AI... but as a tool”. Sting, an English singer, believes that “there’s going to be a battle we all have to fight in the next couple of years, defending our human capital against AI”. He urged artists to be careful, saying “the tools are useful, but we have to drive them”.
Singer Grimes seems enthusiastic about the introduction of AI music, with Rolling Stone reporting that she said people should “feel free to use her voice” and that she’ll “share 50 percent profits on any successful AI created song that uses her voice”.
8. How does AI create music
A. By copying existing songs.
B. By working with musicians together.
C. By learning from human emotions and feelings.
D. By basing the new music on existing musical data.
9. Why was Heart on My Sleeve taken down
A. Because it was not good enough.
B. Because it was too expensive to produce.
C. Because it was illegal to use AI in music production.
D. Because it used popular artists’ voice without their authority.
10. What does the underlined word “embrace” in paragraph 6 probably mean
A. Challenge. B. Change. C. Accept. D. Stop
11. What is Singer Grimes’ attitude towards AI music
A. Positive. B. Negative. C. Curious. D. Unclear.

For a quarter century, TIME has organized annual lists of groundbreaking inventions, and 2025’s collection — featuring 300 innovations — stands as its most expansive yet. Beyond impressive technological leaps, this year’s selections reveal a defining trend: the most impactful inventions attach importance to human needs, understanding, and real-world problem-solving.
The 2025 list underwent strict screening: editors and journalists worldwide recommended applicants, with special focus on fast-growing fields like healthcare and AI. Each invention was evaluated for originality, function, ambition, and impact — qualities that unite standouts across categories. Take accessibility innovations for example: the Monarch tablet replaces outdated Braille textbooks with a display giving touch feedback, letting blind students interact with content like their sighted peers. The Tilt Beauty grip Stick, designed for those with limited flexibility, earned arthritis (关节炎) — friendly certification and one-handed operation. Similarly, the Lotus smart ring lets people control home devices with a simple point, clearing the struggle of reaching switches.
This human-centric approach extends to other areas. FireSat uses satellite technology to detect 5-by-5-meter fires long before they worsen, protecting communities. The RootWave eWeeder zaps weeds with electricity, offering a non-poisonous alternative to harmful herbicides while preserving soil health. Even cutting-edge AI tools, like Adobe’s Enhance Speech, consider usability first — removing background noise to make podcasts (播客) accessible to broader audiences.
What ties these innovations together is their refusal to chase technology for its own sake. They start with a human problem — whether it’s inaccessible learning materials, inconvenient daily tasks, or environmental harm — and craft solutions that empower, include, and sustain. In an era of rapid innovation, 2025’s top inventions remind us that true progress lies in putting people at the center.
12. What is the most important feature of the 2025 top inventions
A. Popularity in fast-growing fields. B. Focus on solving human problems.
C. Impressive technical improvements. D. Higher number compared to past years.
13. Why is the Monarch tablet considered an impactful invention
A. It is affordable for most blind students.
B. It has the largest number of touch sensors.
C. It is the first tablet designed for blind students.
D. It is an interactive alternative for blind students.
14. What makes Adobe’s Enhance Speech a top AI invention for 2025
A. Cutting-edge AI models. B. Profitable market breakthrough.
C. Practical fixes for common issues. D. Top noise-reduction technology.
15. What is the text mainly about
A. TIME’s 2025 List: The Most Comprehensive Edition Yet.
B. 2025 Top Inventions: Focusing on Solving Human Problems.
C. Tech Leadership: The path broken by Accessibility Innovation.
D. A New Tech Principle: Considering Practicality over Advancement.

We often focus on physical health but ignore brain health. However, research shows we can actively enhance our brain health at any age. ___16___ Here are practical ways to keep your brain sharp.
First, pay attention to your diet. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon and sardines, help protect brain cells. ___17___ Berries, green tea and turmeric are also good choices as they reduce oxidative stress in the brain. Following the MIND diet, which emphasizes vegetables, nuts and whole grains, can lower the risk of thinking decline.
Second, keep your body active. ___18___ Appropriate exercise like brisk walking or cycling boosts blood flow to the brain and supports new neuron growth. Even short activity breaks every hour can improve focus and mood.
Third, consider quality sleep first. Deep sleep helps the brain clear metabolic (新陈代谢的) waste. ___19___ Try to maintain consistent sleep times and keep your bedroom dark and cool for 7-9 hours of sleep nightly.
Fourth, learn new skills. Keeping your brain active prevents it from becoming dull. Whether it’s a language, instrument or craft, learning challenges your brain and builds cognitive reserve. ___20___
Finally, stay socially connected. Isolation speeds up memory decline. Interacting with others stimulates language and empathy, which are vital for brain bining social time with movement, like joining a walking group, works even better.
A. Poor sleep increases the risk of brain ageing.
B. It’s never too early or too late to start caring for it.
C. Regular physical activity is key to brain maintenance.

I Got Ding-Dong Ditched By Angels
I lost my husband three months ago. A car accident took him to another world. Just ten days ago, I received a notice of layoff from my company. It was really like when it rains, it pours. I shut myself at home due to my sadness.
It was a mid-afternoon and I was in the kitchen making homemade sushi when I heard the doorbell ring. I was in confusion because I wasn’t expecting anyone. Out of curiosity, I walked over to the door, looking out through the sight-hole. Nobody was there. I hesitated for a while and then opened the door. Instantly I saw two small folded-up pieces of paper lying on the ground. I looked around wondering what was happening. “Was this some kind of strange trick ” I thought Quickly, I grabbed the two notes, went back inside and opened them without delay. Judging from the handwriting, it was obvious that the two notes were written by children.
One note said “Dear Neighbor, continue dreaming, working hard, and being awesome. No one is just like you. Love, S. O. Happy for you.” The other said “Dear neighbor, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going! You got this! Just work it out! Try your hardest and I bet you can do it. Signature — Anonymous (匿名) Neighbor.”
These words were like lighthouses guiding me through the darkness, filling me with incomparable warmth. I was sincerely grateful to the two angel neighbors for their wonderful “monkey business”,which enabled me to escape out of the past sorrow.
I found a temporary job at a nearby store and also signed up for the training courses at a night school. Soon I was hired by a new company. The long-lost smile reappeared on my face.
However, in my heart, I always wanted to find the two angels who had helped me.
